After losing Jarin Stevenson to Alabama…we know hometown kids are willing to take a leap.
I don't consider that we "lost" Stevenson, we just we not all that interested, had we treated him as a priority we would have got him, I was not upset that the kid went elsewhere, I felt he was over hyped.
Ky does worry me now, they now have a guy that can coach some, they have not had that in a while. Pope is riding the wave that new Ky coaches seem to get in a big time portal run as well as high school recruits. So Ky will be hard to beat out for the kid, Indiana looks to be a solid contender as well, think it comes down to UNC/IU/Ky, I like where we stand for now. Really helps that we will have a starting spot opened up at the position he plays, a NCAA AA candidate leaving where this kid could step right in, he is a sweet jump shooting 6'4" 2 guard that is comfortable with the ball in his hands as well as off the ball.
There are 2 great off guards in this HS class, Johnson and Peterson and Johnson is the one we have the shot at, FYI, if he stays healthy I see Peterson as a future NBA HOF level guy, I see Johnson as a potential future NBA all star game participant. This is a monster recruiting class top to bottom. Give me Johnson, Riebe, and Koa Peat and I will be ecstatic!
