Just maybe the everything is rainbows and sunshine attitude is costing him respect in the locker room. These kids sure look like they have quit on him.
I watched Hubert’s post game presser. Sounded defeated. It sounded like he didn’t say some things that were on his mind. A lot of long pauses mid sentence.
He did consistently reiterate how much he has enjoyed coaching Ian Jackson when asked about his struggles.
It's a professional league now. UNC is just now realizing it. Some seasons we're going to suck. This is one of those seasons. I don't watch anymore because I don't recognize the product on the floor. That's on HD. He might love his team more than any coach ever has, but I don't like watching this team play. Maybe next year. Go Heels!
A thought. All this talk about we gotta keep it in the family and buy we have done that for sure. If I remember correctly Dean wasn’t even a Tar Heel so we gotta look outside unless there’s just a can’t miss candidate and I don’t really see one of those.
The thing about "family" is that we can easily accept Brady, Harrison, Cormac, etc as part of the family after getting only one season from them, so why are some people so reluctant for us to hire the best HC no matter where they're from... and then adopt them into the family?
I agree. I'm all for staying within the family only if that person is the best candidate for the position out of all potential options.
All I know is that I have never turned games off at halftime until this year
I took it off the TV at half, put it on the laptop, muted the audio, and just listened to some good music instead. The 2nd half was a much more pleasant experience for me.
Honestly I think one recuits commented might be the only reason why he will get another year i think that's the dumbest most nonproductive way of thinking ever but if it takes us losing Wilson to get Hubert gone I'm on board.
Anything that happens good on the court will be in spite of Hubert not because of Hubert.
Hubert must step down or face the embarrassment of being fired.

HD should start withers, lubin/ jw, ec rj & st ... seems those starting lineups gave us a chance to beat Kansas & mich st & uf .... then we went small & poof
I wonder how often Hubert talks to Roy, or visa versa? Surely Roy has to be concerned with what he’s seeing.

I agree that they should start a more balanced lineup but don't forget they got curb stomped to start all of those games.
I feel the same. If not, Bubba should pull the trigger. When you have lost the team with 8 or so regular season games left plus the ACC tourney... its at the point of no return. Bubba should pull the trigger, elevate Lebo or May for the remainder of the season and continue the coaching search he's already begun. The players need a new voice.
If I am Wilson I would be rethinking the whole thing…Poor kid will be playing the 5 with 4 guys on the floor 6’6 or smaller…
I have zero inside info but feel like the percentage chance that Hubert steps down is creeping up. My guess is 20-30% right now. The job he has is not at all the job he accepted.
Can anyone close to the situation tell me if he speaks in cliches to the team? It’s one thing and even makes sense at some level to do so with the media but if he says the same predictable generic stuff over and over it could contribute to losing them.

College basketball is at a inflexion point, as is football. Several factors have all come to a point that requires ALL schools to make radical change to its process or quickly get buried. College football and basketball are today far more similar to the NFL and NBA than they are the college game 5yrs ago. Some programs got ahead of that and are now enjoying the benefits of it, others were slow to embrace that and are now working to catch up (where UNC now is), and others still have not embraced it.
The only bright spot to this season is that it has woke up Carolina basketball to this fact, Hubert now not only can see but is in agreement, the head coach can not do this job all on himself, like Roy was able to, like Dean was able to. I do believe this emerging front office has to be built out before we think about bringing in a new coach. Now if we had a Roy Williams waiting int he wings to sail in and save us from Matt then cool but I don't see Brad Stevens, Billy D, Mark Few, Jay Wright beating down our doors to get in line to be our next coach, do you? LOL
I am all about and feel our AD should use the back channels to gauge who maybe willing and be completely bought in to building our front office out as head coach. Bubba needs to know EXACTLY what and who is options are before he does anything.

Kool, I think there may be less than a 5% chance Wilson ever plays the 5 for us.
