If he cant beat Stanford at home or keep a game against Clemson within 20 points despite having 4 McDAA’s in the rotation he shouldnt be coaching. When his clear deficiencies as a coach are exposed when he has roster limitations it should be clear that he isnt a good enough coach to have the best job in the country. If your only redeeming quality as a coach is that you can be successful with a perfectly constructed roster then you probably arent a very good coach. Not sure how old you are but I watched Roy Williams get a 3 seed with Bobby Frasor and Wes Miller as his starting backcourt, a good coach will figure it out

Stanford has arguably the best big man in the country. Clemson has arguably the best frontcourt in the ACC. Teams take advantage of our weaknesses. And this is the weakest UNC has been in the frontcourt in most of our lives.

Roy Williams got a 3 seed thanks mostly to the fact he had a freshman named Hansbrough, who is one of the greatest college big men to ever play.

Hey I was at that game in LA are we talking about that same game where he sat his 5 star point guard that ran the offense all year the majority of the 2nd half and played 10th man in the rotation Paxton Wojick his only meaningful minutes of the season in the most meaningful game of the season? Which made our all american shooting guard have to be the primary ball handler and it led to his worst shooting performance of the season? And he also benched his 6th man other ball handler who then entered the portal 2 weeks later?

FWIW, 40%, which I think is considered quite good, means only 4 out of 10, one more than 3 out of 10. This metric also comes at a higher volume of 3FGA for him as well, and a notable higher % of his FG takes are 3's. His FG%, FT%, RPG, and SPG all have positive bumps too. His A/TO has worsened though. Of note, last year, his live-ball consequential posessions (I'm defining that as FGA+A+TO) was 12.4/gm; 21/40min. This year (13 less games thus far), it's 17.4/gm; 24/40min.

You cant win without quality guard play either. And almost every coach in the country would trade their guards for Hubert’s guards. Unless youre Dook, Kansas or Kentucky youre going to have roster flaws. Every other coach in America is expected to make the best use of his roster and figure out a way to win. Why does the coach of the premier program not have to be held to the same standard? When Wilson comes next year but RJ, Jackson, and possibly Seth, Drake and EC are gone youll be whining about how hard it is to win without a good back court. He’s a terrible in-game coach and severely limited his staff by only letting former players be a part of it. If he’s going to be stubborn and put himself at a clear disadvantage in terms of player development and the X’s and O’s he better make sure he has the perfect roster every year. If you really believe you cant do that with your NIL or recruiting situation you better change your staff so that you can win games from
bench if you cant win on the court. He’s fumbled basically every aspect of running a successful program

So it may be very difficult to win high major basketball games without competent big men, but you 100% don’t have to get curb stomped by them. Most all of our players have gotten worse. You or anyone else can’t argue that, and thats coaching.

I agree 30% is not good. I apologize. It would've sufficed for me to state my opinion that a 12% 3FG% increase, in the midst of a higher volume of shots, is notable improvement. I personally was kind of surprised by that stat.
