I cant get excited for this season

and I wish I could. I just dont have the faith in the coaching staff and the progress of the players. The past few years have dampened my spirit towards my outlook for this year.

Sadly, if UNC is not successful this season ( I mean winning big games against P5 teams) UNC will have wasted the best 2 QBs in their history. If UNC had their offense and NC$U defense, it would be a top 5 team. I hope Im wrong but I am jaded.

Even if my enthusiasm for college sports hadn’t been effectively extinguished by greed for football money and colleges legally renting players via NIL, I have no confidence in our staff. I‘ve dreamed of UNC winning another ACCC for over 40 years. I’ve come to the conclusion it isn’t going to happen. And yes, we’ve wasted two historic QB’s in recent years because we couldn’t field a decent defense.

I'm excited to see who looks improved, to see if there are some interesting wrinkles to the O, but I don't expect anyone other than the LBs to be impressive on the D side of the ball, and I don't expect dramatic schematic changes on the d side. It will probably entertaining but exhausting from a nail-biting perspective since every game will be a shoot-out again.

yep, just different now…it appears as though the spread has made many d-coordinators hit that white board more often…no longer can a 4-3 with press corners win each series.

because of his failure as a head coach we tend to forget that carl torbush was an excellent defensive coordinator and recruiter of defensive talent.

Some great coordinators are never going to be truly good HCs. That's just the way it is. At least UNC saw that about Torbush in Year 3 - but should have fired him after Year 2. Then they hired Bunting and doubled down on bad hires, and then kept him beyond 3 years, which was akin to quadrupling a bad hire.

Butch Davis was HATED from before he arrived by all kinds of UNC basketball-onlys and basketball-firsters, and they never stopped trying to get rid of him.

Davis was replaced by Fedora, which was not a most terrible hire, but was a poor one when you consider that they refused to look closely at Gus Malzahn, who ended up taking the Arkansas ST HC job.

She was just another silly woman a cxhucrhc conference playing to the assembled ladies in ways that delight such women and look silly and even obnoxious when edited by someone wanting it to seem as garish as possible.

hearing charlton warren speak about his group, and he’s a great orator anyway, i feel better about the back end…he’s talking about certain players leading practices which isn’t common to hear in college…maybe he’s in line here for down the road.

if you’re watching all access unc on the acc network it’s pretty clear the mindset is different…whether or not it translates is a different story.

at some point a desire to not be soft and not be just all-hype has got to sink in.
