Another important announcement. Mixers are for women.

I didn't want to hurt THN's feelings but I totally agree. Of course at a football game when I'm sneaking the mini bottles into the game, I'll go with coke as a mixer. But if I'm drinking bourbon, it's usually going to be top shelf shit. And I'm damn sure not putting any coke or ginger ale in my Booker's.

I agree. To be fair, THN has consistently pointed out that he's not drinking the good stuff. There is a inverse relationship between the quality of the liquor and the acceptability of using a mixer.

Today is Fresh Veggies Day.

I am slightly less enthused.
I did fresh veggies day for dinner last night. Does that count?

Had a bunch of veggies that needed to be used up: broccoli, squash, tomato, onion, red pepper. I diced them all up and put them in a ziploc bag with salt, pepper, garlic, and a little bit of lemon juice. Shake it all up, then layer it on top of tin foil on a cookie sheet and sprinkle it with parmesan cheese. Broil for 10-15 minutes. Healthy, tasty, and best of all no clean up because you can just throw away the tin foil. Thanks for tuning into another edition of Cooking with Raising Heel.

If I ever stockpile enough veggies at my place -- very unlikely -- I'm gonna try this.

I would've put in a bowl after pulling it out of the oven and dipped tortilla chips in it because I gotta make it fatty friendly somehow.

That actually sounds pretty good. I might do this, except I'll substitute lemon juice for olive oil.
