As much as i love dean u will be hard pressed to find an objective person to agree that hes better coach than k. Hes the best coach we could ever have had though. Bad luck robbed him of two titles. Would not trade his legacy for ANYONE'S.
So we can't get enough joy out of criticizing Roy that we have to take a turn at trying to tear down DES? The disgust I feel for a supposed UNC fan saying that rat bastich from down the street is better than DES at anything is over whelming!
Name a single innovation ratty brought to the game? Name a single rule that had to be changed just to level the playing field against ratty.

No one is trying to tear anything down, Mr. I Create Straw Men. It's not a slight to Dean to say that K is a better coach. It is what it is. Do I like it? Nah, not really. But it is what it is.
ETA: K is a more successful coach, how about that? What's my evidence? 5 > 2

Thought that when the donors put up the money for the Dean Center they purchased those seats in perpetuity.If I buy something especially at that pricer I would not give it away

Most of them are already dead . . . but, most still make it to the games.

The situation has changed since many of the years Dean coached. For many years when Dean coached ONLY 1 team from the ACC could move on to the NCAAT, now not out of the norm to see 5 or more from the ACC in. There were fewer season games and far fewer NCAAT games played how many more wins did K snag just from these 2 issues? K has had many more chances to win games and many more chances to win national titles than Dean had. Dean had many teams that could not play freshmen, many more that could not dunk or have a 3pt equalizer arch.
When K really started to hit his stride was when the 3pt arch came to be, he embraced it, Dean really didn't and thus the ole UNC pounds it inside and duke launches trey after trey was born.
In head to head match ups, Dean's team playing K's team how did Dean fare? It is about the only metric you can use if you want to go by the numbers but in any other set of numbers the out come is skewed in Ks favor because for most of that time Dean had to coach under s different set of rules. And as for national titles, there is one other thing Dean had to contend with that K did not, UCLA being the best team money could buy dominating the NCAA for so many years. NO, I do not accept K as the better coach in any way...

Roy made some big mistakes vs IU. When a fan has to scream CALL TIMEOUT at the TV numerous times (I'm sure I'm not the only one doing it), something is wrong. Coming out flat in a huge matchup is coaching.
Howevaaaa...our home crowd stinks. Can't really blame a guy for having to coach in an atmosphere like IU had and say "why don't we have this, we're freaking UNC"

I agree ... wouldnt have traded him for ANYONE. But stats are stats ... and whether we like it or not, STATISTICALLY speaking, Coach Kay is the best since Wooden. Not even close.
Not true. I believe they can be passed to one generation, based on our experience.
Legacy donors with primo seats should be, er, "encouraged" to pass their seats along to the students and/or people who will actually get a little rowdy.
Coach will never, NEVER NEVER EVER FREAKING EVERRRRRRRRRRR.....call a TO in a meaningless nov/dec pre conf scedule game. It will not happen. Deal with it. Etch it in stone. Scream it from the highest mtn top. Throw ashes on your head and rend your garments. IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN! Its a test. A test to see if the players can settle down and keep their heads if/when a situation arises that they cant call time out.
You guys are banging your heads against the wall questioning coach's line ups and strategies and use of time outs this early. I'm telling u his main goal is not winning these MEANINGLESS games but getting the team ready for conf play. He did not coach to win the indy game. He coached to develop in game skills and decisions making.
