I haven't read the thread but I can give you lots of ideas if you like fiction, especially if it is horror or allegory or anything like that.

Just finished reading this one. Really enjoyed it.

Apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio owns the rights and will star as Holmes in the movie - no ETA on release date.
Must be nice to be rich enough to give a guy 5-6 figures just in case you might want to make a movie one day.

I highly recommend this series by Silva. Start at the beginning, you’ll want to read them in order, but it isn’t necessary.

  1. The English Assassin (2002)
  2. The Confessor (2003)
  3. A Death in Vienna (2004)
  4. Prince of Fire (2005)
  5. The Messenger (2006)
  6. The Secret Servant (2007)
  7. Moscow Rules (2008)
  8. The Defector (2009)
  9. The Rembrandt Affair (2010)
  10. Portrait of a Spy (2011)
  11. The Fallen Angel (2012)
  12. The English Girl (2013)
  13. The Heist (2014)
  14. The English Spy (2015)
  15. The Black Widow (2016)
  16. House of Spies (2017)
  17. The Other Woman (2018

I just started that book 'Annihilation' that the movie is apparently based on. It is a trilogy, though I'm not sure if there are plans for the other books to become movies or not.

I’ve read the first third of them. Very good with a main character in Allon who is more interesting than your usual run of the mill spy.

Three great novels, by Jeff Shaara. His dad wrote Killer Angels, my favorite Civil War novel.

The Rising Tide
The Steel Wave
No Less Than Victory

They are excellent historical novels on WWII. The first is about the fighting in North Africa, the second is about D-Day, the third about the march to Berlin. The Steel Wave is the best historical novel l’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of them. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I read that. Interesting but I had a hard time getting into it. Always feels like you're just getting more questions than answers.

Interesting, I had never heard of them, but they look good and well reviewed. Apparently there's one before "The English Assassin" called "The Kill Artist" for anyone planning on starting the series from the beginning.
