So I am an avid fisherman. Living at the coast allows me to fish both fresh and salt water. I spent a couple of years partnering with a buddy fishing bass tournaments. Meanwhile, I set up a fresh water aquarium. Then it turn into a salt water tank. Now I am rocking a 240 gallon reef tank. I tear down my shed/outdoor kitchen and build an 1800 sq ft shop/kitchen. Added a lean to roof off the side to house all my lawn equipment, as well as grills and coolers. I have a total of 4 grills. As for the shop, I purchased enough tools in the last year to start wood working. I've taken several contracts for building benches and racks for the nuclear plant. I spend hours a week on various web sites and you tube learning about both reef aquaria and wood working. I'm about to build a small farm table and benches for my oldest daughter for Christmas. I'm also building cabinets for the kitchen area. I think my hobbies are a full time job.

I envy you. My father in law is like you and it feels like you guys seemingly know how to do everything. I just bought a house and the freaking guy has basically renovated it himself while I'm standing there just feeding him beer whenever he wants it.

I'm a simpleton by your standards...work 10-12 hours a day, get on the grill when it's nice out and cook meat, watch any combination of basketball, football, golf depending on season, and take weekend trips.

But for your comment in the title, no way man. Guys who aren't handy like you are envious of it.

Thanks for that. I am a self made man by the grace of God. I'm a GC and run a good business doing residential renovations, new construction, marine construction, commercial work, and also work subcontracting all types of projects for a nuclear plant. I was ordained about 8 months ago. My preacher is aging, so I may end up taking over pastoring my church. I have 1 teen left at home as well. So when I go to bed, I sleep well. 6 hours of sleep and stay moving outside of 2 hours of tv. Your old man sounds like he was cut from the same clothe that I am

My only real hobby is golfing.

That's probably my favorite hobby. I run a lot too...it isn't fun at all but the physical and mental benefits are worth it.

I need some hobbies. Work is killing me lately...

Ditto. That shit just spirals also into other things. Too busy at work = eat like shit, drink more because of stress, less sleep, etc.

I'm similar to you @Grayhead. I teach woodshop so as of now all my tools are bought and paid for by someone else, which is really nice. I usually try to build the kids something for Christmas along with their other gifts. Last year I built farm tables for them. This year I am building jewelry boxes for the 4 granddaughters and a toy box for the grandson. I bird hunt a lot! And I play a lot of golf. I also coach high school girls softball. We are in the playoffs right now at 23-6. Don't think my wife will allow any more hobbies.

Find something simple to do. I was hooked on these things about 2 years ago.

Between my job, the club and my family I don't have a lot of free time for hobbies.

Does this crap qualify?

Now you can build a guitar and teach yourself how to play it.
Believe it or not, I briefly looked into that. Woodworking can be done at any level one choses. Strum would need to make some videos showing the process

My advice is to start with an electric guitar. The bracing on acoustic guitars can be insanely complicated, and needs to be done perfectly. Let me know if you ever decide to pull the trigger (willy nelson pun intended), I'd love to follow along as you go through the process

Ditto to all the golf heads. Playing three times this weekend. Have a captain choice tourney (which I hate) next Friday then the following weekend the 2 day Club Championship at my home course.
