Ian Jackson Entering Transfer Portal

This is what happens when you call a shitty coaching every night at midnight and ask him how you can get better.

The answer is find a better coach to help you.

His ISO game is brilliant but that’s a huge disconnect from an offense running plays for whomever comes open

A Powell lost would be catastrophic but this is not
Losing Drake would for sure hurt but Drake is NBA or back to UNC. Hubert may well be looking at Drake as a 2, that may be the position the NBA feed back is telling him he projects best. Notice, outside of McNeeley we have not really gone hard for another 2 guard.

The disrespect to RJ Davis by UNC fans is absolutely ridiculous. Probably the worst look you can give while also in the same breath complaining people are leaving and not staying at UNC. Dude stayed and gave every year eligible to us and played way better than expected and was our best player almost every year. We rose and fell with RJs play. Which is a testament to that others weren't doing enough to offset his days he wasn't on.

Ironically, sitting Cadeau and starting Ian Jackson at the 2 was our best option we had once we knew Cadeau was done and checked out in January. We should have gave his minutes to Ian and maybe then Ian would have stayed. Without RJ playing however, we would have lost a lot more and not even been on the bubble.

Doesn't matter though. RJ should be celebrated as an all time great UNC player. The disrespect our fanbase has had for him for almost 3 seasons straight now is pretty ridiculous.

Catchings, not Cummings
Oh, OK, threw me because we were talking about a guard and Catchings not being a guard I was confused. Yeah, I really want us to lock Catchings in.

To me job 1 for next season is to do a much better job of fitting players to their proper positions, we were at best a bubble team because we force fitted guys away from their natural positions rather than have them play a position on the floor that allowed their natural talents to flourish, to often our guys were having to play to the weakest part of their game.

I love guys that can play different positions at a high level because defensively it looks like Hubert is sold on a LOT of switching, like he prefers to switch all 5 positions. A guy like Catchings can give you quality minutes at the 3 or the 4, so as a 3 and gets switched to a 4 then he is still fine, Wilson is a 4/3 and both 6'9", nice compliments. JPowell is a really solid 3 & D guy, Drake can literally play the 2-4, Seth 1-3, Veesaar 4/5. See the versatility to switch defensively. If in addition to Catchings we can add a big bodied 5 we could have a care taker PG and still be fine, give us Lee or NIgel Pack and we may be a final 4 team (even with Hubert).

Sorry Dave, sometimes I forget people are not involved in the conversation in my head. I thought of catchings after I read your take on moving Drake to the two. That would obviously free up the three where catchings could play and be interchangeable with Wilson.

I think RJ coming back was the worse thing to happen to Unc. Give ole 4 eyes credit at duke with Roach. RJ stunted Elliott, Ian, Drake, Seth and Cade’s growth, and forced us to play small ball. Lastly, it will possibly cost Hubert his job, with how recruits view Hubert as we move forward.
Biggest crock ever. If they were good enough to play, they played.

I remember that episode, LOL.
My favorite love to hate episode is when Aunt Bea hints about and thinks shes getting a bed jacket, gets a set of preserve jars instead and totally makes a scene.

I guess thats like us knowing we deserve a certain calibre of coach and once reality sets in, we realize what we've got and we all throw a fit.

Hubert is a set of preserve jars.

Common sense eludes a lot of people evidently. Good post.

but again, look at the lack of development of talent under hubert. it’s not good. do we keep blaming kids that will go elsewhere and be stars or do we blame our coach and whatever we want to call his system? even he can’t verbalize it.

Wherever he's heading, I have a feeling he knew he was going there long before he entered the portal. St. John's is as good at a guess as any.

Give me RJ Luis in return!

he won't be getting big time minutes under Pitino if he doesn't improve his defense drastically

Not meant in any way as anything against RJ, but you are not wrong.

Hell, I would take you back to the Memphis exhibition and the positive chemistry up there vs how it looked as soon as he came back.
