You should give them a listen. That cover is a little misleading. It was their first CD and it was done for shock value and it worked because they almost got kicked off of a tour because of it. Obviously everyone became interested in them once that story got around. I'd probably start with Break the Cycle if I were you. That's probably their most well know album.I know nothing about Staind and by the looks of it, I'm fortunate.
Hark is the perfect person to use as a barometer. The idea is iconic covers for everyone, not just for the people who owned the album or are big fans. Hark doesn't really listen to them, but his immediate thought was Master of Puppets. And are we really using Hark as a barometer on the Metallica thing? Dude's a yank. You know their opinions don't really count. Find me someone else and I'll give your argument a little merit.

I just got back from a Metallica message board and out of the 438 Metallica fans that took part in my Rank 'em, 437 of them listed And Justice For All as the most iconic album cover. I believe that ends this debate.
the idea was to post one that a lot of people would know even if they were just a casual listener

I know, I know.... some critics refer to it as Shit Sandwich, but its still iconic.
Jay-Z is a tough one. The blueprint and black album are iconic, but I think you could make a case for reasonable doubt as well.
Yep, record company made them use this originally...Speaking of alternate covers (at the time of their release)

Yeah that one and Vol 2...Hard Knock Life were both solid choices as well.Jay-Z is a tough one. The blueprint and black album are iconic, but I think you could make a case for reasonable doubt as well.

Jay-Z is a straight up buster. There, I said it. I'm not sure how's he's been as successful as he has. I think he's a garbage rapper and one of the most overrated musical artists of all time.
I know that has nothing to do with album covers, but I felt the need to get it out there (and hopefully start an argument).
"The Bunk" is an auto–like from me! Bunk is da shizzle!
Crazy album cover, but definitely not a very Stones-like album. I really like a few of the songs on it, but as a whole it's out-of-place. I guess it was their attempt at a Sgt Peppers type LP.
I went through a phase where I listened to it a lot. I haven't listened to it in a long time. But, I have an original LP, with the 3-D cover, in a frame! It belonged to one of my cousins. I was lucky that I had older cousins who had good music and let me have their old albums... especially once they got 8-track players!Crazy album cover, but definitely not a very Stones-like album. That's cool... I wish I had some original pressings of Stones, Beatles, Hendrix, etc.I went through a phase where I listened to it a lot. I haven't listened to it in a long time.
