If You Could Move UNC to the SEC or B1G...

I loved the old 8 team ACC now that we spread up to NY and Boston I am begining to loose my "love" for the ACC as a conference. If we were to go anywhere SEC is the only one of interest to me.

Not saying that at all Dave. What I am (accurately) pointing out is that football is driving the ship and basketball nationally is suffering because of that. To say go with the flow is frankly short-sighted and will do more harm than good in the long run. As you know one of my degrees is from Auburn, and yes, I'm a huge AU football fan. That being said I think the SEC has been allowed to skew the college athletic model into the current state. I agree that UNC should be able to succeed in both sports but had the SEC been reined in as they should've been we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I absolutely hate this expansion nonsense as a fan, I loved the smaller conference and the ability to play home and away games against the entire league and not just selected teams. The SEC and the ACC have basically had to create 2 seperate conferences under a single banner with the east & west stuff.

But it is about money and specifically what brings in the most of it and plain and simple football does that more than any other sport. That is what drove those huge numbers for the SEC because from that league there is always a national title contender. I didn't think the ACC made a particularly great deal last time they went to the table for TV money but a lot of that expansion was trying to add viewer markets so that maybe next time a better deal can get done that brings us closer to the SEC. But that is stunted until the ACC can bring back football success outside of Clemson and FSU. UNC could really help by actually winning bowl games rather than flaming out in them. Yet another disappointing season ending yesterday vs a team we should have beat.
