After 6 generations of jarheads, including my oldest son, I have just been informed my middle child will report to Raleigh MEPS on the 27th for...AFOQT.

For you non-military types that is Air Force Officers Qualifying Test.

Yes...Air Force.

And yes...Officer.

Oh the humiliation! I told him he was ruining our family name. He told me to salute and get over it. He always did take after his mother.

Seriously, I'm so proud I'm trying not to burst wide open. He graduates from ECU in December with a double major and if all goes well on his test he reports to Officer's Training in January.

I have been blessed with three outstanding young men for sons and I can take no credit for any of them.Their mother deserves any and all credit for what they have become. All I ever did was be loud and hairy when they gave her a problem, and thank God those times were few and far between.

Anyone know the words to that "Wild Blue Yonder" song?
