I don't proclaim to be a guy with a bunch of sources but I do have a guy here or there that comes across some info from time to time. One of those guys is telling me Bolden to dook is a done deal, not sure when it will be announced, maybe it already has & I'm way behind.

I guess we can hope for chemistry issues & departures that would affect them later, after all there are only 200 min to go around for all those guys. And they can only put 5 on the court at one time (minus the 3 officials), unless they change the rules for dook.......which I guess is entirely possible.

sure thing boss...

He just wanted to sooner than he thought.

And just for the record ...................................... I STILL detest Duke & UK threads here!

I didn't intend for this to be a dook thread, was just posting some info I thought those on this board might be interested in.

The Dermites will once again have 2-3 OAD's on next years team. They'll be gone before most dook fans even know their names. Ho hum. Better them than us.

Can you imagine how pissed off all these LTCCers are gonna be when Vader only plays 7 guys next season???.

The ONLY time Duke had 2-3 OAD on one team, a championship was won. Tyus, Okafor and Winslow. So yes I imagine better Duke than UNC.

Magette, Deng, Rivers, Parker, Irving, Ingram, all OAD and all left by themselves and none with a championship.

You're welcome to them Tru Cane. dook has abandoned any concept of the student athlete, just like UK. They've sold their soul to the devil.

KryChefSki can not coach a team with one big in the lineup very well. Try finding time for 3-4. That is going to be pretty indeed...

  • A degree would take some extra doing for Riversbecause he spent only one year at Duke. He said he would prefer to take courses in the summer, meaning it could take seven or eight sessions to get his diploma. The upshot to all that work would be a degree from one of the top schools in the country, which could lead to a job in broadcasting and later coaching.A template for that path was created by Austin's father, Doc, who returned to Marquette during summers early in his career with the Atlanta Hawks to finish his degree. Doc Rivers went on to become a broadcaster and now coaches the Clippers.
  • Jabari Parker to go get his degree
  • Kyrie Irving left Duke after his freshman season and could very well be the top overall pick in the NBA draft, but he still plans on getting his degree as soon as possible.

There have been others like Gerald Henderson who have left early and returned for their Duke degree.

Duke hasn't abandoned anything it's doing what it's always done under K and that's get very talented players.

Grant Hill
Jay Williams
Boozer
Brand

Many others would be one and done in TODAYS game. Duke still gets kids from good backgrounds who value education and who will still go get their degree even if they leave early. There is not a single negative to that.

Would be a great pick up, but I'll only believe it if the kid makes it official.

K was in a bit of a deep funk with recruiting until TEAM USA came calling-He went hard after One-Done and Capel became his "Hinch Man". He took full advantage of all 3, add to that kids get a free HIGH DOLLAR Duke education and you have it. Will be interesting to see just how many of these one-dones from Duke and UK end up getting their degrees.

That timeline is incorrect. Coach K took over team USA in 2005. At that point, Duke's recruiting was still doing quite well, the program was coming off a final four season in 03-04, and was in the midst of a 3 yr. run of collecting 1 seeds. Further, in 2005, it had the #2 ranked class per the composite 247 rankings and in 2006 it had the #4 ranked class. In actuality, the real problems in recruiting came after he took the job and (i) wasn't available to recruit as much as others, and (ii) faced increased competition from a UNC program that was riding high after an 05 national title (Brandon Wright, Leslie McDonald, ultimately HB). While it's true that the gold medal successes of team USA eventually did start to swing recruiting back in Duke's direction, reality is that in the early years K's Team USA involvement hurt Duke more than it helped. In the end, it's probably turned out to be a net positive -- but there's little doubt that team USA had as much to do with the recruiting dip in the 06-09 era as anything else. If you go back to the 01-05 era (pre-team USA), there really was no evidence of a drop off in recruiting. That's just an indisputable fact.

Thornton confirmed his transfer today. That is a fact.... here is speculation.

Jeter, et al not far behind him....

The revolving door continues and The Rat has the engine on the revolving door revved up.

So nice of the Leader of Men (barf) to look out for Thornton. Nice. Rat prolly straight up told Thornton he'd get to practice all year, and maybe get a couple minutes here and there if they were up by 30 on someone, but otherwise its pine city, baby!

It just warms the heart how much the Rat looks out for his players and works to develop them. Sick. I wonder if whacking Thornton was a condition for Bolden to come to the cesspool. What a way to run a program. All about the development of the student athlete. Funny thing is.... if you accumulated the kids that transferred out of Dook, and put them together as a team of seniors, that OTHER programs have developed (Gbinije, Salumon, etc) - they'd give Dook a run for their money.

Just think if we had this FUBAR of a program at UNC - we'd have never had guys like Britt, Brice, Joel James, .... and in the past guys like Deon Thompson, Jawad Williams, etc on the team product for us.... if we were like Rat and looked out only for the new OAD guy we recruited over the 4 -year developing guy, and just throw away the guy who isn't a star as a freshman.

Why don't we hear more in the media about what a transfer factory Dook is? Or am I missing it, and the transfer factory is good for the game, what the NCAA and the universities should want, for "developing these student athletes".

The Dookie recruits must be getting paid well by Bag Man Capel..... how else can you explain them just ignoring Rat and Capel just royally screwing up the first couple years of these college kids lives, throwing them under the bus, having them sit out (lose) a year, etc.

Would be awesome to hear people like Thornton and other transfers spill the inside stuff on how slimy the whole process is for them, if they aren't instant automatic stars, regardless of what they were promised when they were recruited.

Talk about kids getting used and thrown away. Rat treats the kids like prostitutes, bought for a year, but I'd guess most prostitutes get treated with more respect and dignity, than Rat shows to his high-recruits on the middle of his bench (ie - the guys beyond the "only 5-6" players he had this year.

They needed to open up a scholly for Bolden and bingo, Thornton decides to transfer. But I'm sure that's just coincidental. The LOM is selling dook as OADU, just like Cal at UK.

Of course, dook fans maligned UK for it 5-6 years ago, now they love it since Krazywhiskey has sold his soul to the devil and abandoned the student athlete concept entirely.

Much like UK fans whose opinion of Cal did a 180 after he became their coach. Hypocrite much?

Sorry Archer not seeing what you're seeing. I see no change or difference in recruiting strategy since the 91 season.

K recruited Sean Livingston, Kobe Bryant both of whom actually skipped school and I believe Carolina recruited Kobe as well? If Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse played today it would be one and done. I just done see this change you're talking about or this selling of the soul. Guys have been transferring since Billy McCaffrey

Look Tru, you're one of the few dook posters I respect. If you're happy with K's program, fine. I'm just glad he's coaching at dook and not UNC.

Roy does recruit OAD's but they're never going to dominate his program like they do at dook and UK. That's just not his M.O. And I'm so happy it's not. It's the main reason why UNC rarely lands OAD's.

I wouldn't trade one Marcus Paige or Brice Johnson for a dozen Brandon Ingrams.

The scholarship FACTOR is exactly what I have been thinking since I heard this today. How convenient is this folks...???

Most likely K will have a few more scollies open soon. He is already working on Obi Wan Nobody. Jeter is deciding between a redshirt or transfer.

K, the leader of men.

I think Jeter could be quite good as a junior. Might be good as a soph, but will he get enough PT before his junior year? Look how little he got this year when they desperately needed him.

Would he really lose much by transferring? If he transfers he sits out a year. If he doesn't he still might sit most of the year.

So the question he might want to consider is whether he'd learn more by being a practice dummy for Giles, Jefferson and maybe Bolden, or by learning from another good coach.

If he enjoys being at Duke, he stays. But if not, there doesn't seem to be much downside to transferring.
