In a number of ways, it was not as bad as most assumed it would be. But a hurricane always leaves devastation. I fled 2 of them while living in Surfside Beach. Neither did any damage to any house near us, but in the area, many people took major hits. One of them flooded about half of Georgetown, and when I drove through nearly 2 days after landfall, I saw water still standing several feet high in a couple of places.
