Is Luke Maye better than Chase Jeter and Sean Obi?

Disagree with the comparison. Jawad was a 6 foot 9 double digit scorer all 4 years at Carolina, and a stat sheet stuffer in all other categories. He also hung around for 3 years with Cleveland before moving onto a solid career in Europe. I'm a fan of Luke, but Jawad was significantly more talented beyond being just a bit quicker. With that said, I'd love to see Luke turn in a similar level of production as Jawad by his senior year.
I didnt want someone to race bait me for saying that. Probably stupid of me. Im not on a political forum. But yeah jawad was better from the start but im referring to the fact that both are 6 9 pfs that can stroke the 3. Yeah definitely wasnt saying hes as good.

Obviously this thread will be taken out of context by some over at DI but this is a comparison of these players this year, most if not everyone here expects Jeter to surpass Maye in the long run and reach his "potential" but it is ironic given how many threads and posts have poked fun at Luke Maye. Luke is seeing his time increase during conference play and Jeter's minutes have probably decreased, his stats definitely have.

Yeah, I don't care that much about the stats considering the sample size. It is more how they look when they are in and when each guy plays, especially considering the difference in the two teams at that position. I assume if they tackle this topic they will try and say Jeter will be better, which isn't the point. I don't really care what they say though.

Did I race bait you?

I didn't see anyone mention race this whole thread and Maye is 6'7" and not nearly as skilled as Jawad. The comparison was just not well taken, but back to the topic. I love Maye's contribution and he is doing so well because he has a coach that appreciates his skillet and can get the best out of it. One principal difference between ratty and Roy is that Roy recognizes and appreciates intangibles; whereas ratty only values pure talent. Hustle, coachability, work ethic, and team first attitude are talents, but ratty seems to devalue them. Maye has a full toolbox of intangible skills that make up for somewhat lacking physical attributes. He will be here for four years and his contribution will grow, but I don't see more than spot starter status by his senior year. This is no slam on Maye as any championship team must have the glue guys that do the dirty work that gets them over the top.

Boys, make no mistake! Giles will be a player no matter where they stick him! He's an unbelievable talent and this is one Tar Heel who is very thankful he will only be there one season. Don't underestimate him, serious mistake.

But I have to agree, K running around "I've only got 6 players" is a disgrace and total lack of respect for those other guys pulling on a Duke jersey.

Duke Roster

3 Grayson Allen G 6' 5" 205 Sophomore

53 Brennan Besser G 6' 5" 180 Freshman

14 Brandon Ingram G-F 6' 9" 190 Freshman

21 Amile Jefferson F 6' 9" 225 Senior

2 Chase Jeter F-C 6' 10" 240 Freshman

13 Matt Jones G 6' 5" 200 Junior

5 Luke Kennard G 6' 5" 180 Freshman

34 Sean Obi F 6' 9" 250 Redshirt Sophomore

45 Nick Pagliuca G 6' 3" 195 Junior

40 Marshall Plumlee C 7' 0" 250 Redshirt Senior

50 Justin Robinson F 6' 8" 190 Freshman

12 Derryck Thornton G 6' 2" 175 Freshman

30 Antonio Vrankovic C 7' 0" 270 Freshman

I count 13! THIRTEEN K not SIX! Yes Jefferson is injured, hate it for him in his Sr season but what about the other 12? Has The Admirals son even seen the floor at all? Thoughts?
Mikey, I don't think anyone is underestimating the # 1 ranked player in the country. On the other hand, he is coming off two knee surgeries and may have to play the 5 for Duke. Mike Tyson's famous quote comes to mind here when he said " Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face". The Heels may not get Udoka, but if they do, this fan looks forward to a few Udoka's hard "clean" (lol) fouls to Giles head. I have no love for Giles. He gave Roy the runnaround and he is the enemy.

If Duke does not sign a big who will play there? Jeter, Obi? I salivate thinking that they would start either of those guys.
