Is Roy>Dean?

Grew up following Carolina basketball the 2nd year Dean coached. So for me there is not comparison. But I am enjoying the heck out of following Roy. It will be a sad day when he retires just as it was when Dean retired. And, the last three teams have had a special place in my heart and Roy molded those teams.

Without Dean there is no Roy. There is no North Carolina Basketball without Dean Smith. Roy is right in his assessment.

Really cannot compare the eras. Besides fewer reams in tourney you had ineligible freshmen for a good part of Smith's years and when UNC lost guys early to NBA it was not a common occurrence.
