Stepped into a "gender neutral" restroom in downtown Durham today and there were 2 women in there, one at the sink and the other just exiting a stall. They stared at me for a couple seconds, I laughed and proceeded to take a gigantic leak and let out an incredible fart in one of the stalls. Walked out of the stall without flushing .. one of them had already left, the other was drying her hands, I glanced at her, smiled and said "welcome to the new America!" ... then left without washing my hands, just because I could.

That said I'm going to be on the lookout for gender neutral bathrooms now and try to replicate your experience. Maybe I'll even pull a Butters from South Park and drop my pants to my ankles to stand and take a leak. We're all about being comfortable in the bathroom after all, right?

Yep, gender neutral restrooms all over the Triangle. I've used them several times but have never run into women, it was my lucky day I guess.

What if someone's version of restroom etiquette is to go into the restroom that corresponds with your gender? I feel like that was proper restroom etiquette since restrooms were invented up until this issue started. Believe me, I couldn't care less if some woman wants to sit next to me while I drop a rude deuce in the bathroom, or peek under/between the stall to see me with my pants down (although I feel like I should be paid for that, but that's another issue). I do sympathize with those who do though.
