So, what does this mean? Does he have grade or character issues? Has Hood indicated that he definitely intends to play 4 years? Are we going to take a commitment from a 2nd top RB in the class of 2017? Has Zamir White indicated that he likely will wear Carolina Blue?

WTF? I see we seem to be on the trail of FL RB Kameron Duncan 5'10" 195 and I also see Rasheed Martin is now listed as cool for UNC on 247. UF is after Adarius Lemons and I assume we are still recruiting Javon Leak. A couple of other RB's have also visited lately , so I really don't know what is going on there. Ross Martin at 247 says UNC will need to sign 3-4 in 2017 and is in good shape with a number of 2017 RB's and can now offer plenty of playing time.

Don't forget Laborn.

I don't know what to think. This is really bad for our depth, especially if Hood gets injured. Even running the spread, which in some ways favors shiftier guys, you still need bruisers like Hood and Williams to keep the chains moving.

Was playing time an issue? He's a year behind Hood, and if Hood stays for 4 years then Williams would've only had one year to possibly be the man. I still don't understand why he didn't redshirt last season.

I don't understand it either (not redshirting). He was banged up most of the year.

He said we're gonna take between 3 and 4 RBs? whoa.

All of this may be a stretch

1. Grade or character issues are rarely a reason an athlete transfers. If that is the case, It would be reported as academically ineligible, and/or no longer enrolled-We will see when more info comes out

2. Hood could indicate that he intends to play 4 years, but I doubt it he would make that statement until he gets into his Jr year, and the season

3. Very rarely does an established college player transfer because of a HS commitment.

Just my thoughts though

Do you really think a star/starting RB that has any chance of playing in NFL is going to stay for a 5th year and if after we haven't signed an NFL caliber back than we are in trouble? I have to imagine other than because of serious injury not many RB's stay around for a 5th year.

I agree with you and ordinarily wouldn't want a RB to ever redshirt because of their short NFL shelf life. However, in this case, TW clearly wasn't healthy. Why not RS him and preserve that year of eligibility just in case. He probably won't need it, but what if things happen and he does need it?

4 rbs in this class seems weird.

3 seems kinda seems like a bunch all at once, but you gotta have depth. I'd put really high priority on someone willing to play either secondary or RB - CJ Cotman type of guy

UNC RB depth chart w/ current commits

2016 Hood , Logan , Francis , Brown
2017 Hood(possibly) Brown , Lemons
2018 Brown , Lemons
2019 Brown , Lemons

Considering our pressing needs on D, especially the DL> 4 would be criminal, and 3 is a stretch, even with losing Williams.

Hood never redshirted. He is a True Junior. 2017 would be his 4th year on campus.

Hood is an Eagle scout, literally. When he was still an ND commit, I read some article on him that noted he had the habit of not merely doing church charity projects before having social time, but that he encouraged other students to do the same. A student athlete like that may want be on campus 4 years and help his team 4 years - that is doing one's duty. Plus, a young man like that probably already knows that if he were to play 4 years at UNC and surpass Famous Amos Lawrence to become our All Time leader in rushing yards, it will mean more to him over a lifetime than another year of NFL pay.

After this year we will have one RB(Brown). Counting anyone else is just being hopeful. We better take at least 3.

I think he's a huge mama's boy. When he committed to UNC they(SoCar) all said they didn't want him that Mon Denson was their guy. Well now some douche bag on their board claimed some UNC players think he(Williams) is better than Hood.......LMFAO. In the few carries he had last year he looked soft to me.

Let's just wish the young man good luck as he moves on....I hate he left but he is doing what he feels is right for him..No hard feelings either way....UNC will be fine and he will be fine as well..Good luck my Man unless you play the Real Carolina....
