Jalek Felton

Don't give a hoot what his haircut looks like. So thankful he's coming to The Hill and bringing his skills with him! Now go talk some Bigs into coming too. :D

It took me a good 2 minutes to realize it was him when I saw him this weekend.

As for the Arenas comparison, Jalek has more selflessness in his pinky finger than Gilbert had.

He looks great on his shot or giving those assists...some of them were pretty neat.

If he is that talented is the point. He is scoring PG with a quick first step and long arms.

Jalek IMO, will have to take some of that mustard off the hot dog, I know it looks cool but the easy pass that seems to bore folks is the one I love.

Not sure that I actually see Jalek as a college PG, my gut is similar to Marcus should fit better as a scoring guard than PG. I am kinda expecting Joel back for a senior season right now, unless we have a similar season as this past one. I say that ONLY due to his being a smaller PG than the NBA covets. I do know this much, if Joel is with us for a senior season he will be our starting PG, Jalek or 7th may back him up but Joel is the man until his UNC career is done.

In a strange twist, it has always been UNC with the big front court and some what lacking in out side shooters, we would have for the most part only 1 real outside shooter that defenses keyed on and kinda allowed our other back court guys to take shots. It was duke that had the lesser front court depth and really didn't look to feature their bigs but they wrapped most times 3 guys out around the 3pt arch, one drove to draw the defense and kicked out to one of the other 2 open for the catch and shoot trey.

But now the weird twist, it is duke with the more considered front court talent and of course you feature your better talent so the ball has been going inside to the duke bigs more than normal and that certainly will not change next season, even as good as Tatum is he is a mid range shooter and slasher with great length, not exactly the 3pt marksman. So in essence what UNC is known for kinda applies now more to duke.

BUT look at us, next season we will have BRob, Woods that can both hit well from the outside (7th is more streaky right now but look for that to steady up, BRob shot treys last season in the high 40% range). Kenny will show us really strong jump shooting next season IMO, trust me on Kenny because I believe this as strongly as I believed in Joel Berry as a freshman. But add Nate and Joel, Luke, who we all know can knock down the treys, Justin may be back, Jalek and leaky on the way. Point is we not only have but have very young and in the pipeline coming jump shooters that can allow us to wrap 3 shooters around the 3pt arch, one of them drive and kick back to the open catch & shoot.

WE have won it all with our typical style and duke has with theirs but in this weird twist of fate we have the personel to maybe be better running their style and they have the personel to maybe be better running our more traditional style of play.

Just strikes me as a strange twist of fate.

If JoelB leaves after his junior year, we may not have a true point guard. Maybe Jalek or 7th will turn into a true PG but at this juncture they remind me more of Dexter. Not in all respects, of course, but in the sense that I don't see a strong PG mindset.

One of the good video clips I saw last year of 7th was in a game where Dennis Smith also played. I came away from watching that wanting BOTH of them. But Smith clearly had the PG chops; 7th not so much. Maybe 7th got better at that as a senior. We'll find out. In any case he'll get a chance to learn behind Berry and Britt for his first year.

Even if one or both of them turn out to be decent PGs, it won't hurt to recruit a true PG in the 2017 class.

That said, true PGs or not, 7th and Jalek in the back court together will be sweet.

You know it's funny the same thought occurred to me the other day. We used to be the ones, even last year, with the big men and raw athleticism. Well now Duke is getting a lot more bigs. I remember when K couldn't buy a decent big man to come to Durham. Now within the past 3 years he's had Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor and now Harry Giles and Tatum. We have better guards now. It's a weird switch.

I'm sure Roy will be able to snag a decent big man from the 2017 class. I'd prefer it if he got at least two. But we won't be nearly as strong in our frontcourt without Brice. Barring Tony Bradley becoming a superstar.
