There is a guy on IC claiming Jarin's father just resigned yesterday as Seaforth's head coach but has provided no evidence to back that up. Can you confirm/deny?

Many of the comments posted on IC are inaccurate. The comments said Stevenson was 18 years old, but that information is incorrect. Stevenson is 17 years old and will turn 18 in October.
Sure, Coach Stevenson may have resigned for real, but for now that's just a rumor.

You'd think if the Seaforth coach resigned yesterday, news somewhere in the state would have covered it right?

No not confirmed. Just putting two and two together. Dad quits coaching job, Alabama has open assistant vacancies, reclass probable to bama... Hope I'm wrong

Well if you're right, our roster is likely set for this coming season. 10 scholarship players, 2 of which probably shouldn't be counted on to play against Power 5 teams. Only 1 small forward on the roster capable of guarding tall/athletic small forwards, only 1 true stretch 4 on the roster. Unless an impact small forward or stretch 4 enters the portal late as a grad transfer, we're probably going to have roll with what we got. That's a super thin margin of error for Hubert. With 3 open scholarships it feels like he should have tried harder to add more from the portal when there were still impact forwards available, or at least try to keep 1 or 2 of the forwards we ran off. Heck a 5th year McKoy offers next year's team way more than we'll get out of freshman Zayden High.

Just gonna have to keep my fingers crossed we can avoid key injuries, and hope Hubert is open to playing some zone defense when we're playing small lineups.

If the news. Is true that his dad has resigned from his job as coach.....there is little doubt he is headed for the Tide..

I wasn't even aware he had scheduled an announcement. He originally said 6/9 but that came and went. Had he mentioned another date?
In fact, Stevenson didn't give an announcement date. It's just that he's said in an earlier interview that he's hoping to make a decision by this weekend.

I told you 3 months ago we would probably top off at 11 scholarship players. You were pretty adamant that we would fill them all....

I really hope some other transfer wing becomes available. Not satisfied with what we're rolling out at the 3 spot. I'd be pumped to add Stevenson but he doesn't solve that need this year.

Wednesday June 21 it is...interesting the information that is out there.

A lot of the UNC twitter accounts seems to be bracing for the fact that jarin is going to chose bama
I think UNC fans would be well served to try to look at things from the kid's point of view. Now yes, I have not been high on wanting this kid to commit to us and I have explained why I feel that way. I get why UNC is attractive to the kid, I get how his now being a 5 star makes him feel he has to strike while the iron is hot, so I get why he expects to be able to not just start and get big minutes and do so being 1&D and off to the NBA. I get all those thoughts running thru his head as well as why.

But I think it simply comes down to what this kid believes himself to be more so than what he will be. At UNC he simply is not going to start as a freshman, not unless several crazy things happen all at once. I think he is at best case 3rd on our depth chart for the 3 or the 4 spots for this coming season if he reclasses (if he is able to reclass) and the same players seem to be there for the season after as well. I strongly doubt he would consider coming to UNC if he knew he was 2nd on the depth chart at the 3 and 4, no way he accepts being 3rd unless someone really sits him down and shows him what he believes is not as real as he thinks it is. I don't see that happening and I don't see Tony Bennett blowing a ton of smoke up his butt either... But Nate Oats will say what he needs to say, will promise what he needs to promise and then play the kid like he wants to play him and those promises made during recruiting well that was just recruiting talk... Watch and see, this kid will commit to bama (I think he will reclass IF HE CAN, I don't know if he has the credits to be able to reclass) and then enter the portal after his freshman season is done because he is not going to get what he thinks he will, see Jayden Bradley for an example..

This kid is really talented but his skills are raw, really needs a lot of developmental time and work, I see him college for at least 3yrs and I don't know that he will ever be a wing like player he seems to define himself as. I think he can develop in to being a really good defender that can cover multiple positions, I just don't want to see him try to be Leaky Black on the offensive end of the floor.

Oats will play him if he can play. All coaches talk up where and how they can use said player. I do know some blow more smoke than others but if a kid can go, he will eventually see the floor. Roy to a fault would play them later. But better late than never I guess.

Do not expect it to be UNC, but hopefully he makes a decision that he will not come back to haunt him. As most know his mother is a die heart Carolina fan, and I truly believe he is as well.

With a few exceptions, most of us liked that Roy showed loyalty to his experienced players.

With the portal and NIL, showing that level of loyalty might cost a coach his job these days.

I agree but when that player is better and gets it done better all around even Roy was late to the game at times. I’m all about loyalty but not at the expense of losing.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I don't have the skills to hunt it down . . . Has Stevenson done everything he needs to do to reclassify?

Do UNC, Alabama and UVa have comparable rules on admittance, or is it easier, for example, for Stevenson to reclassify to Alabama? Depending on whether he still has hoops to jump through, that could steer his decision toward the easiest school(s) to get into.

I am thinking UNC 40% in 24 and reclass to Bama 55% and UVA in 24 5%
I hear you. A lot of comments here seem to lean that way.

Part of this is how ready he thinks he is to be a starter at this level. The criticisms I've heard are that he's a skinny 4-star with suspect outside shooting. Which suggests that he might benefit from another year in HS or coming off the bench this year at the college level.

OTOH, if he thinks he's ready, and/or if some coaches are promising him a starting spot, his actual readiness may not matter.

My preference would be that he comes here in 2024. But that and $4 will get me coffee at Starbucks.
