Joey Baker commits to Duke

He’s a good pick up for them. Multi year player who will look a lot like Grayson Allen offensively for them (minus the tripping).

Has the classic dookie "look". Should fit right in with Trippy McWhiplash and the rest of the floor slappers. Maybe he was signed because he can up their "cool" factor by making a better "hype" video.

stop that Steat, thats a kid who is weighing his options and went about in the most adult way possible
Once a traitor, always a traitor. Hope he commits to Duke soon so that I can hate him more.

By the way "Can't Touch That" Boogie, where have you been? Are you sweating out the upcoming Bagley investigation by the FBI? Could get ugly and spoil your season..:(

I hope so too Steat:D......I've been around....not to worried, he wouldn't be here imo if it wasn't possible and done on the up and up

I would think Joey committing to duke would end the discussion of Moore and duke? If Moore and duke is no longer on the table then I would think we would yet again lead for the kid in the opinion of most. Now personally, I think we led for him even before Joey announced and folks are reacting way to quick.

Any updates on when he's planning to announce? The last I heard was late November / early December.

The "official" word is by march, the unofficial word is likely by Jan 1. My understanding is the kid and his family wanted to make sure they totally understood ALL of his options before he committed. Clearly, the duke offer gave him some more to think about and if that was his dream school then honestly he should have taken the time to consider that. While I can see Roy maybe being upset at duke for the last minute offer I really don't believe Roy was upset at the kid for electing to consider that offer.

I just really wish the traitor talk was not here, what if Roy as pay back, today offered Joey Beard? Now Joey is committed to duke but elects to tell K that he wants to really consider the UNC offer. In the end Joey commits to UNC, is Joey a low life traitor or just a kid that got the chance to follow his dream and decided to do so? Keep in mind, Moore has not committed to any program at least publicly and yet he gets labeled a traitor?

Roe had committed to Roy and then in days publicly committed to MSU and waited late in the game to do so. It is still really early for 2019 kids to commit anywhere.

The "traitor" comments about a 16 yr old kid who owes us nothing are more telling about the people saying it than Moore.

My buddy steat knows I have nothing but respect for him but this is just one of those things we are not going to agree on. I actually understand why steat is so upset, just think there was some spin on what he was told.

What I really enjoyed was thumping Michigan State twice that season in 08-09. Plus blowing them out for the National Championship. I wonder how Roe felt and if he congratulated Roy after the game. That year was a lot of fun.

the traitor stuff is beyond stupid. kid and his family are trying to make the best decision for them, and it's a big one. this is one of the largest decisions of this kids life and he deserves the time to get it right. That being said, we sure don't bitch when a kid flips to us late do we? Grow up guys.

Steat is on a pretty lonely island with that one.

I think most rational people know that it's a 16 year old kid making the most important decision of his life up to that point (and maybe in his whole life). Can't hate a kid for not committing before his junior season...well, Steat can.

As for all the posters complaining about me calling Moore a traitor I will fall back on a quote in the last scene of the greatest movie ever "Gone With the Wind". That famous last scene when Rhett Butler dumped Scarlett O'Hara and she said to Rhett.." What will I do and where will I go"?.....Rhett said.."Frankly my dear, I don't give a damm".

And you know what folks, I still like all of you and no hard feelings against any of you. On the other hand, there is nothing any of you can say to change my mind about the kid. In my mind, he is traitor. On the other hand, if the kid signs with the Heels I will support him. But until that happens, I consider him a traitor and rots on the bench for any school he plays for....:(

I've never seen Moore play. What's all the hullabaloo about?

Great frame (carries 211 pounds comfortably as a rising junior), great length (6'11.5" wingspan) - potential to be a great wing defender. Good-not-great at everything on offense - can fit into any role.

Reading this board sometimes I have no doubt they are spiking the water with birth control pill remnants and copious amounts of estrogen.

I would love to see him in a Tar Heel jersey.

Congrats Steat... I think you’ve managed to achieve the unthinkable..... You’ve unified THR!!!

Unfortunately it seems we all disagree with you in unity!

That said, you’re entitled to your opinion and I respect all the other stuff you post... just on this one lets “agree to disagree”

Come on moderators. I'm all for free speech but this is beyond ridiculous. Steat is entitled to his opinion but posting traitor on a message board about a 16 year old high school kid and Carolina recruit is over the top. We're better than this. Also I find it hard to believe that Coach Willam's is mad at a kid for being honest with him. The last thing he wants is a kid to commit and then get cold feet and pull the rug out from under him.

If you had access to Premium information like I have you would be eating your words. As the great John Wooden said "It is best to remain silent and appear ignorant, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

Move on pal. i know a lot about this recruitment than you will ever know.

The thing is, other people with premium info aren't agreeing with you.

It's weird, but I kind of agree with Steat here. The kid was ready to commit in a month or so, he gets the Duke offer and that changes everything. Now he has a top 10. That doesn't raise anyone's eyebrows at all?
