DSouthr correctly predicted this in another thread and sure enough it is now public that Calipari is pulling out all stops to get K's job. Calipari is a slime ball, but I will give him credit for being honest about the recruiting advantage by having this job, something K will never admit along with the vast majority of Duke fans. Everyone but the majority of the Duke puppet fans know the USA gig gives K a big recruiting advantage.
The article states:
"One person familiar with Calipari's motives said he views the opportunity as "the recruiting tool of all recruiting tools." Another source, who is plugged into the USA Basketball program, said "Calipari wants it bad."
First, with all the baggage Calipari has he will never get the job. Second, since he can get any recruit he wants, why does he need this job? How many times have Kentucky fans told us this? Kentucky has had the #1 recruiting class for the last 6-7 years, correct? Why does he need the USA gig? He can get any recruit he wants? Something does not compute.
The only answer is "greed". The man is jealous of Duke because K has busted his one-and-done bubble. The best analogy I can give you is Barry Bonds. The man could not stand McGuire and Sosa getting all the attention while chasing Roger Maris home run record so he goes on steroids to help him break McQuire's record. Bonds was already one of the best players before the steroids was destined to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. It's greed, just pure greed.
Popovich is getting that job and well deserved.
