JP Tokoto to be cut by Sixers

I wish the best for JP really do .BUT I honestly believe he made a mistake leaving early. He was not ready fro the NBA I think he ends up In Europe.

I don't know that JP will ever be an NBA player. He better learn the eurotrash culture and he can still pick up some nice paydays.

He's going to have to learn to shoot if he wants to make an NBA roster. There are a thousand super athletic wings roaming around Europe and the D League. The ones that can shoot will stand out.

Sorry to see this, but I still think he'll be a huge hit in Europe with his leaping, passing, great D and improved shooting. My impression is that Euro games give better spacing. If true, his driving ability might be resurrected, too.

He's just too entertaining a player not to make a splash somewhere.

While I did feel he made a mistake going early as he did and in truth I was not a fan of his parting comments, he IMO was never really a NBA level talent. He is uber athletic but you need specialized SKILL to make it in the NBA, tons of athletic kids out there not so many with the specialized skill the NBA needs. For the record, I am not suggesting there are tons of guys out there with JP's level of athletism but maybe he picked the wrong sport? Imagine him as a wide receiver with that leaping ability.

This much I do know, if you struggle to jump shoot it is hard to grab a spot in a NBA back court, if all you can do is jump shoot but you can do that at a very high level you can catch on in the NBA, Reddick is still cashing NBA paychecks...

Sorry for JP, but not every player catches on in their first year. Can't remember but I thought Danny Green got cut in his first year too.

(Pls don't jump all over that comment with the "you can't compare" comments, it's just worth noting and is something JP can use for motivation)

He'll just have to go away, either to the D-League, Europe or elsewhere and work on his skills. NBA isn't over but as others said here, he'll have to knuckle down and work for it.

He'll be fine overseas...I just always wished he had a better attitude last year..I think he started to become uncoachable...don't get me wrong, I appreciate all his efforts (defensively) but I think the team is better off this year! Good luck JP!

I always liked JP going back to his recruitment for his raw athleticism --- literally the most explosive dunker I've seen since Vince Carter (plus he turned Roy onto Marcus Paige, so there's that). And I always hoped he would develop his skills into a more complete player the way Vince did.
At times it looked like perhaps he would, but then, at the drop of a hat, he would go into a regression jag. That "Good JP / Bad JP" act drove many of us fans (and Roy) crazy.
Trust me when I tell you that it was also noticed by his teammates. Pretty sure it is what Justin was referring to (only slightly subtly) in his Media Day interview when he mentioned guys "doing their own thing" at times last season. It's not like he was disliked or caused dissension, but truth is JP was checking himself out of Chapel Hill by February.
It could still work out for the best for him --- lotsa less talented guys than him have made hay in Europe and Asia, and his aerial feats would likely make him a crowd favorite.
So good luck to JP. Hope he can achieve his dreams.
