Not the good news you pubbies were gloating about last week . . . LOL

A federal judge on Tuesday denied former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's motion to dismiss the indictment returned against him by a grand jury in Washington, DC -- rejecting Manafort's challenge to special counsel Robert Mueller's appointment.

This is a different judge. This is from the judge in DC. Manafort made this argument two weeks ago. The other case is in Virginia and that judge has not ruled.

The judge in DC wrote a strong opinion and that should have some impact on the ruling in the Virginia case.

Here is a link to the opinion https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4463449/ABJManafort.pdf

From the opinion :

Manafort points to no legal requirement or Departmental policy, and there is nothing in any statute or the Special Counsel Regulations, that would require the prosecutor to look away if the duly authorized investigation into those links revealed evidence of a crime other than “coordination.” The Appointment Order specifically provided: “if the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.” Appt. Order ¶ (c); see also 28 U.S.C. § 515 (“[A]ny attorney specially appointed by the Attorney General under law, may . . . conduct any kind of legal proceeding, civil or criminal, including grand jury proceedings . . . , which United States attorneys are authorized by law to conduct.”); 28 C.F.R. § 600.6 (“[T]he Special Counsel shall exercise, within the scope of his or her jurisdiction, the full power and independent authority to exercise all investigative and prosecutorial functions of any United States Attorney.”). 10 Thus, the indictment was authorized by the portion of the Appointment Order that Manafort does not challenge. Since the investigation into and the indictment for the pending charges fell within the unchallenged first paragraph of the Appointment Order, Manafort’s motion to dismiss can be denied for that reason alone.

Have a nice day.

It's great to see the Judge note that the charge falls with Muellers authority, that's what really matters . . and it won't be any different in Alexandria, Loogie . . your premature glee from last week will be short-lived, son.

Wait 'n see . . :)

Have a nice day.

What glee? All this is quite ho hum judicial proceedings,Boogie. It was a stupid standard motion to dismiss by a defense that usually get denied anyway. It will all lead to a nothing burger and probably boomerang right back to a rouge bunch at the DOJ, FBI and their Democrat pals anyway. Be careful how much you hope they dig....

A lot of plea deals! If you cop a plea, that's an admission of guilt, right?
Yes copping a plea is an admission of guilt; unless you somehow convince the prosecutor to allow for a no contest plea; which means you admit no wrong doing, but recognize that the evidence against you is likely to lead to a conviction.

I know 2 moms that are both 5 star performers . .

If, this was only a 1 star thread, you Trumpanzees wouldn't be poasting on it.

from the looks of it, you'da thought that 45 would have clearly won the popular vote instead of losing it by 3 million.

Nah, people who know the country can see that the majority of big cities with the most people are all blue, so it really shouldn't be a surprise that the popular vote went blue.

In this country we have a method in place where all that red is better represented than determining a winner by a simple popular vote. Although, the Blue is now pushing to have that system thrown out (something tells me they wouldn't have that initiative if the roles were reversed). They sure do whine a lot, but they tend to get most of what they cry for, so I wouldn't be surprised if the popular vote determines the winner next time around.

Don't forget about all those folks that voted illegally, Joe . . hell, that entire shirt would likely be red, amirite . . ?

45 is the whiner.

Juvenile and unnecessary comments by Trump after winning. But I suspect he’s not wrong.

Well, 45 did say the 'system is rigged' . . . the ? is was it the Russian folks that rigged it.

I feel for sure that the panel he commissioned to uncover Voter Fraud will get to the bottom of it . . . how that going btw . . any updates . . ?
