Yep. By all rights, they should've been back home chasing tail on Main Street, USA after their work shifts or working towards their degree in college, but instead they were fighting and dying in middle-of-nowhere cold ass Belgium and other such places none of us would be able to locate on a map.I watch Saving Private Ryan every Memorial Day, and force my kids to at least watch the opening D-Day scene, reminding them of what those brave men went through to help protect the freedoms we enjoy today. And then I remind them that most of these dudes were 18-19 / early 20's.

That's crazy to think about.The average age of an American service member in WW II was 26.
None of the enlisted grades have an average age of less than 20.
