kentucky Called Out...

Lol, that is a good one. Would you say Roy was outcoached every game NC was upset?
What do you call 3 straight shot clock violations at the end of a game & going 6 min without a field goal???
Roy has had a few games where he was out coached... Home vs Dook this year is one of them.

What Kentucky didn't match up very well with that evening was the FT line . . 13/24 (54%). While UCONN went10/10 . .

It's a variety of factors that occurs when a really good team gets upset. What happened with UK I consider just faltering down the stretch. That was a damn good team, but I agree with the idea that anything less than a NC that year has to be considered a disappointment.

Truth is the reason that Ky team did not win it all is they were a collective of very highly rated players but they were not a great team and they lost to a team that was not great individually but played great together. When that happens you have ot look at coaching.

JC cats asked if every time UNC was upset did Roy get out coached? I frankly think Roy would answer that harder than any one here would and that answer IMO is sometimes yes and sometimes Roy did what he did to build his team stronger down the road. But yeah, Roy has been out coached in games, EVERY coach has been since they nailed peach baskets up.

So yeah, the most talented team should win but the better talented team that is experienced and plays together usually beats the team that may be a touch more talented but plays more as individuals, as long as the talent gap is not huge. If teams play more as a collection of individuals and not together as a team then you have to look at the coaching that assembled and teaches those players.

A lot of things factor in the result of one game. A player being hot or cold, coaches getting outcoached, a fluke, etc.....programs like Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke, etc would all
Have more Titles if the tournament were structured like playoffs in pro sports and had a series. That being said, that's what makes the NCAA tournament so great. Upsets are a part of it. The 38-1 Kentucky team had a great year and happened to run into a better team on that night. It happens.
