Damn wish we had them this year we would put a double digit beat down on those wild kitties! I think the dookies beat them Tuesday night!

Murray is really good. That's about it right now. Skal will be very good and Broscoe should help but rim protection is lacking, not great post depth and outside shooting could be a concern as well. Just not as deep a team as recent years. Lee is alright but horrible at the line and he is not overly physical.

It's the first game; Probably shouldn't read too much into that performance considering they have basically a new team every season.

The only thing confusing to me was a odds stat ESPN put up last night, apparently based off of Vegas- where "based off of after 1 game" the odds to win the national title favorites were Kentucky and Kansas at 7-1. How? How after that astounding performance is Kentucky number one?

We were third at 8-1. Isn't it safe to say we had the most impressive performance out of everyone in the top 5? We're the only team that played anyone, and the only team that played away from home, and won the most convincingly given that- score not withstanding.

Long season, I know. Just thought it was interesting.

Well, I hope they play better next Tuesday. I think I've learned not to worry too much about how Kentucky looks early in the year. They have consistently had some games like this. That backcourt is going to be tough for anyone to handle. I like our team better though. Too bad we don't play.

I agree. We should just take our ball and go home. We're doomed.;)

Good luck to you guys and gals this year.

I didn't see any of this game but did watch some of their last exhibition game. UK is clearly not the powerhouse it was last year. But they definitely have some good parts.

They're decent now and will get a good bit stronger as Skal gets his college legs. He reminds me a good bit of Henson as a sophomore. Not as scrawny as Henson as a frosh and not playing out of position. Nobody seems to expect him to stick around, but he could be really good as a soph or junior. Hard to know if he'll put it together this year, though.

One of the things I found interesting in that game was the number of times UK pressed. I don't know if Cal was just trying it out or if he plans to make it a regular feature of their game plan. I love to see a good press. I wish we'd do it. We have the depth to make it worth trying.

I haven't seen Duke play yet. But looking at their box score makes it seem like Jeter and Thornton aren't ready yet. Ingram was abysmal from deep, but otherwise stacked the stat sheet. And Grayson Allen seems to have done a very nice job. Under-appreciated Jefferson started well, too.

Thornton "may" be another "Bail-out" Dawkins player for Duke, a player that K convinced to come in early as an insurance policy for backcourt insurance and than shuns him after he arrives. Of course, we are only talking about one game and Thornton may blossom to become a 1-in-done talent later this year. Thornton is not going to start over Frank Jackson when he arrives next year.Frank Jackson is a stud and will start day one for the Dookies.

I want it to end in a 0-0 tie and the NCAA somehow declares it as the first ever double loss!

May I point you out as some of the more intelligent UNC fans?
Smart fans don't judge UK in Nov.

BTW, UNC looked great considering that Paige didn't play.
Seems like you deserve the #1 rating........enjoy.;)

Pretty absurd. You have to consider the proverbial sources I guess. Think about it, there are even people in the friggin local media who don't understand who or what this team is.

Well, in a way I'm not sure anyone knows who or what this team is yet. They still have to prove they can make shots consistently (outside of Paige) and can close games against good teams. I think they can. I think they will. However, it isn't unreasonable for others to have those questions. This is the same group that has more experience and is now healthy (once MP gets back). That is enough to be pretty good. Still, they have work to do to be really good.

I agree for the most part but I do think that Britt and Berry are at least decent outside shooters. They came on strong to end the season and even though it was only one game this season, I think that is a trend that will continue. Theo and Justin can chip in from outside as well. Paige will continue to lead us but I doubt that he will continue to have more 3s than our entire team combined. Closing a game against a good opponent and hitting clutch FTs will remain my primary concern. This is a down year for college ball and few teams can field as many consistent scorers as we can.

Oh, I agree. I think this will be a pretty good (possibly really good) shooting team. I just think that is still a legit question they have to answer. They will in my opinion but they still have to do it.

Didn't think I would agree with a UK fan,but you're right, one game in november does not indicate how that team will fare as the season goes.

Why not? All the elite fan bases have a few smart people...and a lot of idiots.
I visit here because there are some wise bb people here.
.........fan is short for fanatic ,....meaning acting uncivilized.......

Anyway, thanks for allowing me to visit... thanks for the " likes.....":)

Interesting you say that - DT was considering bypassing his last hs year before everything went down and Jones left. And btw Jackson is a combo guard, and while a beast, he won't be ready to be a true full time pg at the collegiate level. He will play a little PG, but DT should have the reigns with one full year under his belt.

As for UK - it's very early and IIRC Briscoe didn't play against Albany. That certainly didn't help.

Wow. A reasonable UK fan! Welcome aboard dude and I look forward to intelligent discourse about our two great programs. UK will get better as the year progresses, but so will we. I think neither team is any where near their ceiling and both have questions to answer, but I believe UNC has a higher ceiling this year if we stay healthy.

Our game against Temple showed we can shoot outside and play pretty well without our best player. I still need to see more consistent effort from Brice and JJ will need to finally unleash his beast asap. UK's game showed they need to get more effective post play and more defensive effort as well.

Crank,

Yep, it is always the players's initiative to come in early and K has nothing to do with it. Sure, okay. As Sulaimon's mom said, no one will break the Duke "code". It's a suicide mission if someone tries to break the code. K sold the kid that the 1 position was wide open for him . Now, since Thornton is on board he has no leverage. Of course, Duke has only played a couple of games.Things could change quickly.

I will say this. I was right about "Bail-Out" Dawkins and right about "Can't Miss" Murphy. K messed up Dawkins mind so much the kid had to redshirt before his last year. K convinced Murphy to redshirt before the kid realized he was was being abused. Murphy is the first 5-star in NCAA hisory to be redshirted and K is the only coach who has the power to get away with it. I'm going to hold off a few weeks before I officially annoint Thornton as K's next victim. If Thornton does not become a starter this season he sure is not going to be a starter next year with Jackson coming in. You wil have a minimum of Jones, Kenard, Jackson and Thornton and not all will start. The odd man out will be Thornton. Thornton better make his move this year or he will be K's next victim. I didn't think I would have to start another fan club for a Duke player but I may have to give the kid some support that he will not get from Duke fans. Rip Van Ingram may be a good one for you guys. Thus far, Rip is thowing it up from the concession stands but I look for K to ring him in a little.

How do you feel about the Kentucky game?
