Last Album/CD that You Listened To . . . ?

LZIII... ???

Well, if you're not a Zep fan, you probably won't like any of their albums, but I always felt like III was their most diverse album: it's got some hard rockers, but also a few more mellow tracks.

I would say that LZIV is probably the best album for attempting to turn someone on to Zeppelin.

I personally like I, III and Houses of The Holy best even though my all-time least favorite Zeppelin song is D'yer Mak'er.

Albums I've been listening to a lot lately are:

Rap:
Swollen Members - Armed To The Teeth
The Gift of Gab - Fourth Dimensional Rocketships Going Up
Dilated Peoples - The Platform

Not rap:
The Airborne Toxic Event - self titled
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
The Felice Brothers - self titled
Taj Mahal - Taj's Blues
The Connells - Fun and Games
Frank Turner - England, Keep My Bones
The Jayhawks - Hollywood Town Hall
Paul McCartney - New

I'm sure this is some sort of classic rock heresy, but I don't like their singer's voice all that much, so yeah.

Yeah, it is kinda sacrilege...LOL. Robert Plant is regarded as having one of the greatest rock-n-roll voices of all time. But you gave it a fair shot, so RESPECT to you THN.

Anyway, if you don't like his LZ sound back in the 70's, you should give the following a try; very good album and his vocals are subdued, plus the harmonies with Allison Krauss are fantastic. I believe this was album of the year 4 or 5 years ago. Some really good songs on here, with a rockabilly/traditional country/bluegrass sound.

Good band, seen them quite a few times years ago. Most of the members went to UNC.
Really? I thought they were NCSU guys.

You should check out the Asgeir album I mentioned above ("In the Silence"). It doesn't have the lo-fi charm of FEFA but there are a lot of other similarities. The first thing that hit me was the extensive use of falsetto. Also, the vocal lead and harmonies are really melodic.

The most dowloaded/listened to song is probably "King and Cross." Cool juxtaposition of rhythms with guitar and keyboards in 3/4 but drums in 4/4. I probably like the title track or "Summer Guest" more, though. Gorgeous arrangements.

New music from a group called Liz Cooper and the Stampede. Album is Window Flowers. I like the sound and she has some pretty good digs in her lyrics; I'm a sucker for a good bitter line.

I don't wanna be the one that you save
I don't wanna be a piece of this game you play
Draggin me around like it's something to do
Draggin me around what the hell are you tryin to prove?

Paul Simon - Graceland

I know this dates me as a "getting old" dude, but there is such diverse musical diversity on this album, and it just brings back floods of great college memories. Paul Simon is one of the great musical and lyrical geniuses of our lifetime, I believe.

I‘m not big into country music but this one I could listen to all day long.
