Until Elliott got to play, with both Harris and Surratt injured, the Faithful for Fedora would have assumed that Byrd must suck something awful, because Harris showed in play that he sucks at least as much as he did at LSU, and Surratt showed that he was a raw athlete and little more. So if Byrd were 4th team, then his suckage should be off the charts.
But when Fedora was forced to play Elliott, we all saw that Elliott is decidedly better than Harris and definitely better than Surratt (though some of the most Faithful for Fedora keep telling themselves that it is invincible ignorance that causes people to not see things as does the genius Fedora who knew that Harris was the best QB on the team and that nobody other than Surratt deserved a single snap).
And that means it is possible that Byrd is better than all of them. If Fedora can be that totally wrong about Harris and Elliott, then he also could be that wrong, even could be more than that wrong, about Byrd.
There is no way to know how good Byrd is until he is allowed to play. Which Fedora refused to do.
We still lack a 230 pound RB, and Byrd looked good as a runner, with power and deceptive speed, in HS. But if you realize Fedora has screwed you at QB, you likely do not trust him to oversee your move to RB, should you be willing to make that move.
If Byrd plays his Sophomore year of eligibility at a Juco, then he can go anywhere for 2019.
