They will get over this and a few days from now be rarin to go in the last game for the seniors. I see us playing very well in this game.... very well indeed

Houston would be a snoozer anyway. 2-loss UNC vs 2-loss Notre Dame against Ohio State, doesn't matter. Notre Dame gets it since it's not really about football. It's about ratings and that's a great match-up for the fans in that region and it's not like we have a better record.
The whole bowl thing needs to be reformed. The committee making the layoff decision is screwed up. And the bowls being fixed by conference doesn't make sense either, but our players need to realize this is the current set-up. Live with it and win.
Hopefully some things change down the road.
Maybe the "Russell Atheletic Bowl" is a stepping stone to the playoffs the following year?.....Afterall, didn't Clemson beat Oklahoma in that bowl game last year?....
I personally like the matchup, and hope the team is excited to be making the trip to Orlando to face the Bears....
It's not the Playoffs or the New Year's 6, but it is a very appealing bowl game IMO!
Guys, the bottom line with bowl games has ALWAYS been about matching up teams that will garner the most interest. Do we "deserve" a better bowl? Perhaps, but from a purely monetary standpoint putting us and Baylor in a bowl game could be about as exciting a game as you will see outside of the playoffs. Think about the offenses each team has. Plus UNC will (hopefully) come in with a chip in their shoulders and want to prove to the country that we are better than the perception. Think back to '97 when we got screwed in the bowl selection. We beat VT like a drum and went out on a high note.
Baylor is limping right now, but could still be a very good match up for us. I wish we were in a "better" bowl as well, but I think this is a good match up and if we get a refocused and come to play, we might very well start getting some respect going forward.
Remember this, folks:. At the beginning of the season almost everyone on these boards predicted a 3-5 loss season and a mediocre bowl. We just played for the ACC title and are playing one of the better teams in the country who has already gotten national respect in a top tier bowl game. If we can put on a show like we did against Miami or dook, then good things will come.

All anyone has to do is look at the CFP poll prior to the championship game and that spelled out exactly who and how this thing was going to shake out. There was a reason for ranking us at 10. Too low to jump into the playoff if we win and too low to be selected for the NY6 bowls. All of those teams ahead of us have travelling fan bases and you better believe the bowl committees had some say into the final poll. The bowl tie ins also messes things up. OSU vs Ole Miss in the Sugar, really? Talk about a crap bowl game.

I could think of much worse places to spend my Christmas break than Orlando. Warm weather, probably some real good swag. Disney, Universal, chicks in bathing suits! Stop bitchin, it could be the Belk or whatever the hell it's called bowl. Maybe the Pinstripe, Idaho Potato, or even our all-time fav the Weedeater Bowl again.
all in all, this is a good bowl for us. I agree that we likely deserved a "better" bowl but it is what it is. Bowls are about money and matchups. if you told me before the season started that we'd finish 11-2 in the regular season and be ranked in the top 10, playing Baylor, another top 15-20 team in a bowl game, I'd take it.
Truth is the system isn't built for one hit wonders. If we make this year our norm it will work itself out.
I hope the kids got over that initial disappointment and go out and take some names. Heels have a chance to get to 12 wins!
It would make my sports year if we got the opportunity to play the F Nuts. I know too many of those sons of b*tches.
