This ought to be a good test of how much Louisville has suffered by firing Pitino.

Seems like neither team is as good as "normal" - but still good.

Kentucky started the season #2 on Pomeroy but has sagged to #19 - only 3rd best in the SEC.

Louisville started at #15 on Pomeroy but has slipped to #33 - which is only middle of the pack in the ACC.

IIRC, most preseason polls had Louisville in the top 5 or 10, before Pitino got the ax.

It's reasonable to expect that UK will inch back up during the season. Might not be true for Louisville.

This is Padgett's chance to make his case. But the little I've seen of him and of Louisville with him at the helm suggests that he and his team lack the necessary intensity. We'll see if he can turn that around.

There are 3 good games in the Big 12 tonight, too.

I wasn't expecting much out of Louisville this year for obvious reasons.
