The kid is an absolute stud and I hope he heads to the NBA after this season. I hate Duke, but this kid is fearless and humble. Have to give him his due. Regardless of who they bring in, they will not be better next year without Kennard.

I could not agree more steat, I hate the team he plays for but that kid just is hard to hate. With all the balley hoo that freshman class came in with, with all the pre-season hype Tripster was getting, told every one, the kid that worried me was Kennard and I sure have not backed off that stance. The kid was ice last night, noithing but respect.

If K convinced this kid to come back to school it will be a terrible terrible mistake for he and his family. He is a stud!

He is a very good player and he should play in the NBA next season BUT he DOES play for Vader, who will do anything to win games including lie to his own players.

Look for VADER to pull out all his selfish stops to get him to stay at UK East next year

Great offensive player, but the dude couldnt guard a turtle. Needs to improve a lot in that department if he wants to have regular NBA minutes. Look at Okafor, former top 3 pick. Scoring machine, but cant defend. Doesnt have a consistent role with Philadelphia. In fact they are trying rid themselves of him.

He won't get much better defensively and his stock can't improve much. Definitely should go and I don't see any chance he does it. The Kool aid is strong over there and he certainly won't get honest feedback for his best interests.

He he needs to improve his man defense tremendously to have an impact in the league. It can be done. It took Redick about 3 years but he eventually became a decent NBA player.

I agree. He can absolutely play at the next level. He's probably a little bit better than what he's shown in Dook's system. His defense is sufficient for the NBA's defensive standards. If he can shoot it there's a spot for him.

He is a great offensive player with every move, double pivot, head fake, ball fake in the book.
Can't guard a lick.

People even mentioning defense and the NBA is a joke. During regular season, they play D the last 5 minutes of the game and then playoffs are more competitive on defensive end. Other than that it's an organized pick up game.

Then you dont watch mucb NBA. If you dont guard a lick, you dont play a lot. Its that simple. Doug McDermott and Jahlil Okafor can score, but they cant defend. Go look at their minutes per game.

He's not going anywhere. He's tall for a college 2 guard which allows him to shoot over smaller defenders (he ate Britt for dinner last night) but his lack of elevation on his jumper wont fly in the association.

He's a fantastic college player whose stock is as high as it's likely to get. He's also a very good student so he may return to UKE(University of Kentucky East) for his Senior year. Of all the players on the UKE team, he would be the one I would add to our team. With a SG like him, we would be nigh unbeatable.

Both Kennard and Allen should go, when your stock is at its projected high, it is time to cash in. Allen didn't listen to that advice and it has now cost him millions, should not let it cost him even more. Kennard just watched his team mates decision cost him millions, how smart could he be not to want to make that same mistake?

Kennard is a shooter, that is his nitch and it happens to be a nitch the NBA loves more now than any other trait, a trey splasher.

Look for Allen and Kennard too be there for their Senior Nights. Kinda like Zeller and PssychoT. And this oldtimer likes to see kids who love being in college. You only young once, enjoy. jmhho

I agree with you but I sure hope Kennard leaves! Allen staying will cost dook games in the future. Kennard staying will cost us games I'm afraid.

Kennard will declare, if he gets guaranteed first round feedback (which I believe he will) he is 100% gone.

I highly doubt luke will enter the NBA Draft thanks to Coach K. It reminds me of when he convinced Nolan Smith and Kyle Shingler to come back after they won it all.

I guarantee that poster doesn't watch much NBA with that statement. You used two great examples about defense. Defense is the main reason why Okafor comes off the bench and doesn't get starter mins PG.

Kennard is just one of those guys that has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. He's limited athletically but it doesn't seem to matter. He's crafty and smart and has a great shooting touch. He does struggle to defend and that will limit the amount of time he gets initially for an NBA team but he'll play pro ball and I think it will be next year. In other words, he gone.

Miley, how do you feel about JJ? You think he should come back for his senior year when his draft stock will never be higher than what it is now? :)

DSouthr,

The Dookies hate me when I am right. Nothing but crickets...Still waiting for Tru (Duke poster) to come back over here on his knees and admit that I was right.

1. Said Trip should have left last year when he was projected first round NBA pick. Not only did he not leave, but K convinced him not to go to the free-look NBA combine. Now, he will be lucky to get drafted.

2. Said Giles should have never played this year. Not only is he playing, but is only a shell of his former self and his draft stock have plumented. He will get drafted by an NBA that can afford to let him rehab for 1-2 years. I have a feeling that this will not end good and it is sad. Should have never played this year. What is he getting...5 minutes a game? Who would have thought that Luke Maye would be outperforming Harry "China Shop" Giles this season.

Predictions:

1. K still has back problems. You can tell how he walks....very stiff....Note that he does not get up and stalk the referees like in the past. His back is killing him. Retirement soon? I give him 2 more seasons, at most.

2. One of Jeter or Bolden will transfer after the season and be only the third 5-star player ever to transfer in NCAA history. The first two Alex "Can't Miss" Murphy and Derrick Thorton also of Duke. And David Robinson's son he will leave also. That kid is so far down the depth chart he recently fell off the end of the bench.;)

3. Luke "West" Kennard is a stud and smart enough to not fall for K-Rat's BS. He is leaving for the NBA after this season. He was the Duke player that complained openly that some of the players on the team were not playing team ball this year. Nothing but class and accolades for this young man.

I feel the same way Justin Jackson -- great kid on and off the court. He is a great ambassador for UNC.

Steat, I agree with most of this and have for a while. Tripster made a major mistake by now going last draft because his value was very high and there was just not a lot of room for his game to increase. When you look at the last draft compared to the next one you see the last draft was not as guard deep as the next one will be. Tripster isn't really a PG by nature but that is his NBA position, his coming back and wanting to enter a draft much deeper in future NBA PGs was just not being smart. Joel by contrast was not able to get a soslid spot after last season, he had to come back, he is being effected by the depth of this NBA draft in guards and it wil likely force him to come back to us for a senior season.

Giles has way to much to lose to risk coming back, one more knee injury even a slight one could spell the end of his career. It is doubtful that who ever drafts him will be looking for much out of him year 1, they will want him to strengthen and condition before being looked to for minutes. Kennard is looking at the same thing Tripster is but Kennards stock is as high right now as it gets, the risk reward is to great for him not to cash out now while his stock is so high. It Joel's stock were as high as kennards, meaning a first round pick then Joel would be leaving as well and should.

Transfers, don't expect Bolden to transfer, Jeter has some back issues and he has to get that sorted before he looks at potential transfer. To me, the guy that really should get the heck out of dodge ASAP is Delourer. he would be my first suspect to leave.

Were Beard, Burgess or Boateng not 5 stars? They all transferred from Duke too.

beard was a blur...cant even remember if he finished the season...that year the team made the Finals and hill/clark/lang graduated...he was in line for good minutes along side cherokee parks............burgess was a stud 5* i believe...he had battier and brand in front of him, played decent minutes...had some issues coming out as many thought he was going to byu because of his faith....minutes and spot as a jr was wide open after brand left, but he chose to transfer....had some injuries at utah...boatengs first year he was behind williams and mcroberts...he and mcroberts would have been a good frontcourt in year 2...he played 3 seasons at asu....none of their highschool accolades really transferred over to their new schools (boston u./utah/asu)

Marcus Paige had a phenomenal soph season....his stock was an all time high should he have gone?...berry had high stock last season and he came back.....giles has to go.....kennard has options....delaurier should get plenty play moving forward and not landing knox helps him and jack white...*pssst* i'd rather not get knox so javin and white get infused more

The people running your program don't feel that way.
Kids like Javin get pushed to the side on a yearly basis.

kids get pushed aside to some degree when they aren't outperforming their in house competition...tatum primarily played the 4 and amile the 5....he wasnt taking minutes from those guys...wish more time, but those two guys and harry will be gone....the opportunity is all his and i think he carves himself out a niche...Isaiah Hicks and all his hs accolades didnt play very much as a frosh
