so was this about a lack of commitment or shortsighted because they thought “the brand” would supersede anything and everything.

I certainly think UNC is going to compete, and not just shake their fist to the sky in their front yard and say "that's not how it was when I was a kid". 1930's weren't the the 1960's, which wasn't the 1990's, and that ain't the 2020's.

There was definitely a naive belief that the UNC brand and the Carolina way could continue to keep us elite in this new era of NIL and constant transfers.
And as Norlander mentioned, our NIL funds were simply not what they needed to be (and not just for basketball.) In my mind, I think our NIL collective needs new leadership.
Great they are keeping all the basketball hires in the UNC family. Glad to see Buzz being a part of this package of GM folks.
NIL is down because people not willing to contribute money to something they see as a sinking ship.
We can hire all we want and give them great titles but we need a coach, and until we address that we are always going to be middle of the road in a bad ACC
Maybe we could hire the 2024 ACC Coach of the Year who won the ACC Regular Season Championship, swept dook, and got a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Been on the Bubble 3 of the 4 years he has coached….Only Coach in History to be PreSeason #1 and miss the tournament…Also is 20-30 in Quad 1 games in 4 years…
And this entire season is the result of a lack of NIL funds, whether you accept that fact or not. You weren't complaining last year, and you wouldn't be complaining this year if we had the money to buy a starting center. Which is why Bubba is focused on fixing our NIL and hiring a Front Office.
How many years did he know Bacot wouldn’t be playing this year…Why has he not recruited a Big Man since he took the job…
What will be the excuse next year…Also he will need more than a 5 next year…Needs a SG that can make shots…
The 2 Freshmen guards do you expect them to be day 1 starters…

Anybody that thinks just getting a Starting Big Man in the portal is all this team will need next year is sadly mistaken…
All good though old Hubert has no more excuses now…Next year needs to be Big Time…I am talking ACC Title and Final Four…If he is on the bubble next year at the end of February he should be fired…
