Matt Painter?

They certainly shot the 3 tonight like we did all season.

Embarrassing loss by Purdue. FDU only got into the tourney bc the NCAA won't let Merrimack play.

Dukeā€™s weak bracket showing up in style. Bye to the elite 8 now with an injured Tennessee team and FAU/FDU to follow. At least the seeds held in the bottom - but would much rather have some other 2s and 3s. UK v Duke would be interesting.

Purdue is a repeated tournament fraud. Maybe they will pull a UVA and win it all next year (if the heels donā€™t of coursešŸ˜›)

Only 2 coaches made the champ game last year! Only 2 coaches in history have done that in their first year as well! Name 1 coach under 60 that has recruited 2 top classes in their first 2 years; mastered the portal, gotten us on the final cut for all top 5 stars, maintained our family atmosphere and become the perfect example of the Carolina Way, and changed the culture at a Blueblood school ever!

(During the years that included more radical changes than any other period in history!)

Peeps sure will look foolish once Hubs gets his guys; grows into the job; and returns UNC to our rightful place as kings of college bball!

Who will be man or woman enough (or whatever peeps id as) to stand up and say they were wrong and congratulate Hubs once the ball starts rolling????? (I'll read carefully, but I don't expect much from the new breed of our "fans")

If he fails and we are forced to move on, I certainly have the backbone and character to admit I was wrong!

All that is great IF you can you know, actually coach. By that I mean in game adjustments, holding players not performing accountable, and developing any type of bench (even with these "top" recruits this year that you mentioned. I will agree on the "changed culture" part (and not in a good way) but I am far more interested in wins and losses as opposed to "family atmosphere" and I am sure other posters associate "Carolina Way" to winning as opposed to moral victories in close losses to Pittsburgh.

This is not going to end well for "Hubs". Nothing against him personally, but to handpick a successor who only coached a JV team is foolish. Name me another coach who lost in the national championship or heck even the round of 32 or 64 or maybe even a first four game and returned four starters the next year only to not even make the field?

Trash me and other "new breed" of fans if you want, but no way is what we witnessed this year acceptable, "FAMILY" or not.

I was hoping to admit it this year after he seemingly got the ball rolling with that those last 5 1/2 games until he proved me right again.

"Fool me, can't get fooled again."

Good for you, but I know that the rest of your Huber Nation compatriots won't. They'll just do what they always do when proven wrong and either pretend it never happened or start with that "let's just move on" crap whenever you point it out to them.

Is he also on the list of HC's that would be a better than Hubert Davis?
So many names have been tossed around here I've lost count. šŸ˜
@gary-7 @Archer2 @DSouthr @IDUNK4HEELS @TPFKAPFS
Matt Painter is a very good coach and easy yes if I am asked would painter have had more success this season with our roster if he was our head coach. Would I want to replace Hubert right now with painter, no, not yet, I need to see more from Hubert. I will say this, if we start out practice #1 experimenting with some scheme that has not been proven top work in the college game or schemes that do not fit our players talents, yeah, I will likely flip my opinion pretty quick. Cut the gimmicks out and run a darn solid motion offense and bench guys that do not follow it's principles, no matter WHO that may be. And for goodness sake, please understand the strengths and weakness of your individual players, stop trying to force those square pegs in to round holes, 2 5's on the floor, a weak shooting wing and it is a good idea to play a 4 or 5 out spread offense? LOL

Name me another coach that in his very first year ever being a COLLEGE HEAD COACH TOOK HIS TEAM TO THE NATTY GAME? I don't think you, me or anyone else knows how this will end, Hubert for sure had a bad season, it is what he does from here that I want to see. I suspect he will turn it around, I need to see him do that thou before I can expect it.

Matt has been a CHOKE ARTIST.
Only one Elite 8 showing in 17 years as head coach, and he also choked that game away against Uva.

Uva under Tony is never a easy game to play, ACC teams are somewhat used to the way UVa plays but teams in the post season are not so used to them. It is hard just to watch game film and be ready for them because they execute so well on the defensive end, they control pace, you find yourself very quickly playing their game rather than your own.

The Big 10 is a very physical brand of ball, they play each other and a lot of that physicality is allowed but in the NCAAs it really depends on the refs on a particular night if they are going to call the physicality or let it go, they get a crew that calls it fair but tighter than they are used to they can go home quick. Purdue was a hard team to play but their big man made them especially difficult, it isn't like there have been this mass of great talent go thru there but on occasion they get a real special guy like Edney that helps them. The big 10 was good this season but not great, programs like MSU, OSU, and Meechegan were somewhat down, Purdue in my view was a very strong program this season but over all few would consider them a power program.

Indiana State's Bill Hodges was 1st year HC in 1979 when Indiana St lost the Championship Game to Mich St. Did his frost year great success set up a great career?

Davis may get things back to what UNC basketball fans have come to expect. But he might be just another alum a school wanted to make itself feel good who falls flat.

His "frost" year was helped by having a senior Larry Bird starting for his team, don't think Hubert has a guy anywhere close to being as talented as larry Bird but you keep on doing you... Gonna remind us about the Fab 5 to? LOL
