I still think he is one of the best centers out there in college. And he will step it up for the Heels. I hope big Sean May can work with him in practice to help him become better then what he is.

in terms of skills i don't think meeks needs to get much better. what meeks needs (and the texas game was a prime example) is to get tougher and more aggressive. i'm looking forward to the day when meeks and soft don't belong in the same sentence.

I'm wondering which label he'll shed first; soft or lazy? Pretty sure he won't shed either....those two traits pretty much define the guy. And what really blows about that is that it doesn't seem to bother Meeks at all....I mean, if I read and/or heard for the better part of going-on 3 years about how soft, lazy, and unwilling to work I was, I'd be busting my ass to prove the critics wrong. But not Meeks. He'd rather walk around out there and get bullied by guys smaller nor as talented as him...as long as he can shout meaningless phrases & dance in the team circle before games, he's satisfied, I guess.

Biggest disappointment to ever wear the Carolina Blue and White. David Popson and Matt Wenstrom didn't live up to their clippings, either, but it wasn't for a lack of effort or hustle.

I'm not sure what your problem is with Meeks, but let me assure you that a person does not make the physical transformation that he has made by being lazy or unwilling to work. If you consider him the biggest disappointment to ever wear Carolina Blue then you must be not have followed UNC basketball for very long. Hairston? Graves? Several others. How can you call a player a disappointment when he's just over halfway through his college career? Might ought to think before you type your drivel next time.

Meeks must laugh his ass off if he bothers reading stuff like this. Kid has worked as hard as anybody (well, maybe with one obvious SUV-pushing exception) to reshape his body and his game since he arrived in Chapel Hill.

meeks is definitely not lazy. he just lacks any killer instinct. he's a nice kid who tries hard but just can't get mean for some reason. opponents sure get mean on him, maybe he needs a fight or something to bring out his animal self. maybe a teammate could do it. george lynch almost tore a new @$$hole for eric montross for playing soft. maybe it's on roy with the skills oriented gentleman's philosophy he learned from dean smith (whom i otherwise worship). none of bobby knight's player ever dared played soft or he would get a chair smashed over his head.

ditto...............it doesnt bother him..........................sad

Can't teach heart. Dude is talented but plays small, soft and without passion...at least that's the vibe that he gives off. Yeah his stats are nice but that just shows how great he can really be. He's clearly not lazy because he's lost damn near 100 lbs it seems like, but he just does'nt seem to have that determination on the court. Commentators harp on this every game...they aren't all wrong.

And I'm not talking about yelling and beating your chest like Brice does every time he scores a damn bucket, I'm talking about HEART! Killer instinct...who's got it? Maybe Marcus?

Well first off we now know Meeks has been dealing with an injury stated to be a knee bone bruise, big man with a bad wheel explains why he has not exactly been wide open. Second, he is vertically limited, not just the fact he does not elevate well but the fact that he has average at best reach and if he is 6'9' THE SHORTEST 6'9' I have seen. I think he plays well considering his physical limitations.

As I have said, I prefer our center to be an above the rim guy but we don't have that and I can't can't blame Meeks or Jmaes for not being that.

Meeks is not lazy at all. He has worked on his body and I feel he's giving all he has. Give him a chance.

Great young man who represents our university well. He's worked extremely hard to reshape his body, he's the antithesis of "lazy". But like Brice, he just isn't as driven as Hans was and appears to coast at times. In reality tho', very few are as driven/focused as Hans. And he's has to deal with injury issues as well.

Love having both on our team. We certainly won't win a title without Kennedy. We're going through some adversity right now with injuries, like we always seem to do, but Kennedy and the Heels will be just fine and will be playing as well as anyone come March.

Keep the faith!
