put it in my front pocket, sat down, stood up an hour later and the screen looked like it had hit with a hammer, but the tempered glass screen protector was in perfect shape.

Apple, to their credit, is fixing it for free with no hassle at all.

No, but apparently others have had similar problems based on some quick google research. It wasn't positioned any strange way and nothing was in my pocket. Just a fluke
