My son hit the road today

he and his gf bought a mercedes van and spent the last year converting it into a living space. Today they and their golden retreiver left on a one year cross country odyssey living in the van to surf and snowboard all the best spots in the us and some as well in mexico and canada. I always chuckled when he started talking about this several years ago but here he is doing it. Heres a link to one of their you tube videos detailing their journey. Yea once i realized he was serious and then found a girl who wanted it as well i’ve done everything i can to support them. Her dad was not happy for a long time but hes finally come around.

They’ve got a tenant locked up renting their house for $1000 more a month than what their mortgage payment is. Lol. Incredible. Some of that goes to a mgt company watching over things but they have me as well to handle problems with the house should they arise.

About a year and a half. His plan is to propose on top of mammoth mtn in calif

This will be far more harmonious of a trip than if they were already married. They'd come back divorced. But because they're not married, (and honestly, 18 months isn't all that long when talking about relationships) they're still in that stage where they're probably trying to impress each other. I'll bet it goes swimmingly. Good luck to them.

I recently ripped out all the old stencil in Harvey and replaced it with adhesive backsplash tiles like what they're using. They don't add any weight and protect against spills and splashes. Plus it looks 100 times better than the old stencil.

Oh, and tell him to buy some gas props for the overhead cabinets. They're relatively inexpensive, easy to install, and will keep the cabinet doors open while they're rummaging through them.

Pretty cool. If I ever end up able to work from home I would look into something like this.
