He definitely skirts a lot of lines and a lot of what he says he an act and recruiting pitch. Guy is definitely the best recruiter because he sells UK like a brand and given the rules in place, it will allow him to get the best young talent most often. I don't hate the guy in interviews although he is very greasy in how he speaks, he is always selling something and has made some outrageous statements (we change college basketball, proudest day in UKs history, we did what nobody has done, etc.)
However, the issue I have is getting guys like Bledsoe, Skal and even Rose eligible are things that are not often talked about but are what makes me hesitant to trust that the guy has suddenly become squeaky clean. Rose and Bledsoe barely got through HS, Rose had someone have to write his SATs or whatever it was.
Bledsoe had never had a grade above a C in a math class, transferred schools and received a few As in his algebra classes. Needed his 1.75 GPA over 3 years to jump up to a 2.475 in just one year and finished with a miraculous 2.5 to just qualify for eligibility.
Skal's issues are well documented. He played games for a made up HS, founded by his guardian who is also the person in charge of his "recruitment".
So yeah, the guy deserves some criticism because he can get most of the talent he wants but he also goes after questionable kids and that invites all sorts of potential hazards in the future.
