NBA Playoff Thread

LULZ

Playoffs are the only part of the season I watch with the exception of a few Hornets games here and there. Championship will be decided in the Western semifinals with the Warriors vs. Spurs.

Honestly, I used to watch NBA a lot, especially playoffs in the 80's and 90's. I Loved the Dr. J Sixers, and kept up with the original Hornets. But once Michael retired, I've pretty much stopped watching.

That being said, I'm going to try and catch the new version of the Hornets in the first round. Hopefully they can advance.

I've been following the Hornets pretty closely...watch most of their games and would love to get to a few at some point...just live too far away. This team is set up pretty nicely for the long haul. I think they could steal the Miami series, but getting MKG back next year is going to be huge for them.

It's just good to see the intensity of these games take a big jump up (from the vanilla end to the regular season).

Really looking forward to the Hornets game tonight. I believe in Steve.

By the way, I asked this in the other Basketball thread the other day...

Anyone know if it's a thing?

Random question for those of you who are Hornets fans... do the crowd at TWC Arena do the "Tar...... Heels!" chant during games?

Could have sworn I could hear it during the Orlando game the other night (just watched the game replay).

Hornets will never win with Jordan at the helm.

The NBA is a star-driven league, and there are only two ways to get one:

1. Lucky in the draft
2. Somehow convince the new trend of "super trios signing together" to do so in Charlotte.

Otherwise, you just have to piece things together. And Rich Cho is running the show - this is his team. As I said with the UNC team in January -- no need to panic. This Hornets team has games like this, unfortunately...they usually bounce back.

Why rely on luck of the draft when you're just gonna draft Frank Kaminsky?

Fair point. I can see Kaminsky's value, but that may have been a reach at #4 (can't remember if this was their pick, but think it was). Hard to argue with the Batum trade though...they got a Tier 2 player in that guy. The missing link here is MKG. They NEED him healthy. They are a completely different team with him on the floor.

I've never heard anyone doing a Tar Heels chant at TWC Arena during a Hornets game. Not sure why somebody would start it. There are obviously a lot of UNC fans in Charlotte, but there are also a lot of ABCers (Anybody But Carolina) in Charlotte as well. If somebody did start the chant, it would probably receive a quick chorus of boos.

Right, thanks. Maybe my ears are still ringing from the tournament.

Surely things can only get better for the Hornets tonight.

Ha... Well whadya know. I had some free time and thought I'd catch the Hornets game tonight but it's on NBA TV? And of course I don't get that channel. Guess I'll have to catch them another season after they get swept again.

Thanks cool... I got it. Tried watching for about 10 minutes, but meh. NBA bores me, and I hate the 24 second clock. If college adopts that crap, and keeps pushing to be like NBA, I'll likely give it up too.

Usually, the Hornets are pretty decent team to watch as far as the NBA goes, but their defense has been uncharacteristically atrocious these two games.

Heat look pretty damn good in spite of Charlotte's struggles, you have to say.

Whiteside is a nightmare.

Gotta give the Hornets props - they showed up today. Let's get it again on Monday!

Curry out for 2 weeks. I hope GS can manage without him. Sad to have an epic season and a silly injury jeopardizes everything you worked for.

Big night at the Hive!

Great to see them dig themselves out of a hole while all the "Batum is out ... doesn't matter, the series is dead anyway!" was going on.

Steve Clifford is the man.

Big night at the Hive!
Buzz City! You staying up for this one?

Also, can someone explain what the hell is going on with Pyscho T's mustache? That thing is hideous.

I will be yes! 1am tip-off time I think it is.

My thoughts on Tyler's stache are best summed up by the guy next to Kaminsky.

My interest in the NBA playoffs is now dead - as the Celtics got bounced last night in the battle to see who got the right to lose to Cleveland in the 2nd round. That honor now belongs to the Hawks.

I'll passively root for the Hornets to beat the Heat, and then again in their battle against the Raptors for the right to lose to Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Yep.

I just want to see the Hornets get a play-off series win. Anything beyond that would be ridiculous.

Would have liked to have seen how the Celtics-Hawks series would have gone down, had Avery Bradley not picked up that injury.

Blowout in the making. Need to come out with some fire in the second half or else it's gonna be a clinic. Not seeing the same energy from these guys as before, and I have no clue why.
