NFL 2024-2025

yeah, the guardian cap…mandatory in practice, voluntary in games.
Other than the slightly different look, I don't know why they all wouldn't wear them. I've not ever heard anything from a disadvantage standpoint. They don't make it safe, but the studies show it is safer. Why not wear them is the better question.

my guess is the player’s union isn’t in favor so until that happens, they’ll keep thinking it slows them down or looks silly haha.

justin tucker?…he’s arguably the best kicker ever and now he’s awful.
As a Raven's guy, it's killing me. And, nothing has leaked out as to what is going on. It's like a golfer with the yips. It's gotten to the point that it's costing games.

It does look silly, but the brain injuries and cumulative impact are real. I'm guessing it is very subtly discouraged by everyone in the league.

As a packer fan I remember max Crosby. A reliable kicker for years. Then he had a nightmare stretch of games with Green Bay in the playoff hunt where he literally lost 3 games in a row for them including missing 4 field goals (an nfl record I think) and an extra point against the lions. But Green Bay stuck with him. And the next season he hit huge field goals including one to beat the cowboys in the playoffs.

It's a weird thing. Like a Cy Young winning pitcher who suddenly loses their fastball only to go on to win another Cy Young. It must be crazy in these guys' heads.

thanks, I wondered what the hell I was looking at. I'm all for the protection it provides, but they sure look weird. I had imagined that a newer helmet design that would be much bigger and more cushiony would eventually be intoduced. If this has the same effect, I like this better.

kicks happen. Hard not to be reminded of the Panthers excellent kicker John Kasay making that anomalous terrible kickoff at the worst time possible, probably causing us to lose a Super Bowl.
