The future Tar Heels are in Memphis for the holiday weekend.

DAY 1 News

--Elliott Cadeau and Boogie Fland head to head matchup in an early game today. And Cadeau went at him from the tip off knocking down a couple 23 footers in his mouth.
The UNC commit was in his bag leading the lightning to a big win. He finished with 16pts, many assists, 3 triples.
Boogie could not respond from 3-point land but he did get to the FT line often.
*Side note* The ball doesn't stick in Cadeau's hand for long, he makes quick and precise decisions. On the defensive end he will need to lose the "AAU" mentality next year. We need him coaching on the floor and not the bench due to foul trouble.

---Team CP3 lost big in their early game but our guy Drake Powell was very efficient in the loss. 15pts on 5/9 FGs, 4/4 FTs, 6 RBs.
---Tar Heel legacy Jasheem Felton had a really good game in the Ga Stars loss. 16pts/4asst/2stls/2 3's. But this is the worse GS team I can recall. 2025 star Caleb Wilson was awful for the Stars and looked unmotivated. Let's see if he will bounce back later.

Saw his mom tweeted out that this one ref has been fouling Elliot out of games since 5th grade.

I saw that but he also gambles alot on defense. The fouls I saw he mostly deserved, and he drew a charge early that was clearly a block in my opinion.

Elliott has incredible quickness with his feet and hands but he will need to break some bad habits or ACC guards will "baptize" him early and often.

Totally disagree about the charge call,. EC beat his man to the spot.
But yes, he'll hafta break some AAU habits... but then, everyone needs to.

Late afternoon/evening News

---2024 commit James Brown had another solid game. 10pts/7rbs/3blks. He's looking more comfortable and confident with each session.

----The same can't be said for Team CP3 after another their second beatdown of the day. Drake Powell is still Drake Powell, under control, sound, playing within the system.

---Boogie Fland shot well in the W over Drake and CP3, especially from deep. 15pts/3 3's.

---Elliott Cadeau and crew were upset in the afternoon. He shot the ball more in this contest than at any time I have watched him play, as he seemed to get sucked into some 1on1 battles with The Family guards. 20pts on 17 FG attempts is a little unusual for him.

DAY 2 Early games

---Elliott Cadeau came back with a strong start to the day. 16pts/8asst/2stls as the NY Lightning won pretty easy.

---Drake Powell and TEAM CP3 got a much need win as they had lost 4 out of the last 5 games. 12pts/4rbs/excellent defensive game.

---UNC legacy Jasheem Felton(17pts) is having a pretty session despite the fact that this Ga Stars team is awful and Top 10 recruit Caleb Wilson has been pretty inconsistent.

DAY 2 late games

---Elliott Cadeau and the Lightning lost by 1 point. He was solid(16pts/7asst/6rbs)

---2024 target Boogie Fland is having his best session on the tour, excluding the matchup against Elliott Cadeau. I'm not if our chances with him are as good as they once were. Next season will be huge for many reasons. 18pts/5rbs/5 3's.

---2025 star Caleb Wilson finally showed up and had his best game of the holiday weekend with a 15/10 double-double. He stayed away from the 3 point line and attacked the basket with his length

I am not sold on Caleb Wilson, he has a year to sell me, felt the same about Powell and he did end up selling me and I am very happy he did, so we will have to just wait and see how he develops.

Boogie, love Boogie but Cadeau and RJ are just road blocks for Boogie and UNC, got a feeling Pitino ends up snagging him.

He's very, very talented. They have him playing point/foward alot and it's not always pretty. His teammates are missing layups and shots around the rim when he drives and drops it off to them. This is one the least talented GA Stars teams I have seen in 15 years.

Don't write him off just yet, his shooting form is pretty solid, he moves very well and he can beat his man off the dribble.

We played against former UNC great Marvin Williams in 16U many moons ago. Caleb has alot of Marvin in his game.

I have not written him off, have not written him in yet either! LOL All I am saying is for now I am not excited about him, I may well be in time as absolutely was the case with Drake Powell but for now I see several others that intrigue me MUCH more, much much more.

DAY 3

This session came to an end today and Elliott Cadeau was simply amazing. When steps on the court everyone becomes instantly better. November can't get here fast enough for me and our program. This past season left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Final numbers 29pts/15asst.

---Jarin Stevenson was solid again this afternoon. 16pts/9rbs and got his hands on a few deflections. The potential is there is he's willing to be patient and get some real coaching. If not oh well, next man up.

---I really like 2024 commit James Brown the more I watch him. He will never put up big numbers in a rec league/AAU setting. The guards dominate the ball and rarely look inside. He can do things now that Armando Bacot is just learning to do. Brown will be a good ACC big if the staff has patience and develops him. 9pts/9rbs(mostly offensive) runs hard from end to end.

---Drake Powell didn't shot well from 3 but he is looked really good attacking the basket and shooting the mid range. In one half court set he caught the ball on the wing, came off a ball screen, elevated and knock a beautiful 16 footer. 8pts/5rbs.

**Side Note**
Are we secretly watching Concord, NC native Austin Swartz? He's been a Top 20 recruit this spring.

Swartz is working his way up the rankings that's for sure he has really been shooting the ball.

One thing we don't ever discuss is Cadeau's turnover rate. 15 assists is absurd but if it comes with 8 turnovers, it's far less helpful. I don't know how well he protects the ball but I'd guess he's pretty secure. Anyone know?

Coaches want player at 2:1 for TOs and our newest great PG is at 4:1, maybe I should just go ahead and go overboard! I think this kid will acclimate very rapidly and become the focus of scouting reports no later than ACC time!

It's important that EC is enrolling early to play pickup games with the current players in order for them to become familiarize with his passing game. Do expect some of the passes from EC to be fumbled away, or the guy will not be ready for them early in the season. But as the season progresses this should eliminated with everyone being on the same page and knowing what to expect and when.

After a few passes hit you in the head or chest, peeps that fail to adjust stick to the pine! The entire team will run faster and learn to expect passes on time and in the right spots! Shooting % should increase along with willingness to hustle down court!

Tyree Appleby lead the ACC with 6.4 assist per game and was #6 in the country.
Barring an injury Elliott will lead the ACC is 2024 and also be Top 5 in America.

OK, wait now, freeze... Cadeau with a 4:1 assist/TO ratio? His last game, 15 assists, he threw out huge assist numbers all summer. but 4:1 ration on 15 assist is what 4 TOs, kinda high, I mean we all freaked out when Caleb or RJ had 4 TOs in a game, of course we were never treated with 15 assists to off set those TOs either! LOL

I didn’t think we had 15 as a team but a hand full of times. Lol

Edit. 11 times after I went back and counted. Most all were wins. Several games in single digit assists.
