No violations

Something interesting I've observed throughout the entire multi-year saga, and again in rivals' / haters' / medias' comments today....goes something like this:

"Well, great! UNC has just written the playbook on how to cheat, how to offer 'fake' classes, and get away with it. Every other school should do the same. What is to stop them?"

What, indeed. This take is SO DELUSIONAL. I am NOT in any way saying that offering easy classes is right, or that athletes disproportionately taking the classes is right....

but to say or believe that this phenomeonon does not occur in every single D1 D2 school in the nation is very naïve, to the level that I fear for these haters' inability to cope and live with reality of college sports or other parts of real life in the real world

To all THI posters, I’m going to brag on THI publisher @andrew jones. It’s ok if you are not a subscriber on this site because it is a place for the Tar Heel fans to discuss their beloved team. I wanted to say that AJ has been on top of this issue from the start and he has pointed out the issues on our premium boards. So in closing I hope some check out our premium section as it has a real value for the diehard Tar Heel fan!
I'll be that guy and say that premi literally said that the book was gonna be thrown at us and that we would still in theory have an athletic department to be run.

Isn't there a lesson to be learned here? For all those "experts" in "the know," who were so sure we were going to get hammered - sometimes it is better to not say anything than to say something based on zero facts or knowledge.

And as always, the lesson continues to be "Trust in Roy" - why anyone would think he would say "everything will be ok" to his team and prospects/recruits without knowing what he was doing is beyond me. Hasn't the man proven his integrity over and over?

Go Heels!!! Congrats.

I may have an opinion on Braxton Beverly that is not agreed upon by most here. I really do feel sorry for a kid that had his coach removed from him and just because he took a summer course he can't play elsewhere for a year???? I really can't agree with that. Not the kids fault. It seems like if a coach that recruited you moves on regardless of what you have done over the summer you should have the opportunity to move as well without penalty. Think about it guys and gals, if he was coming to the Hill I think most here would be upset. Now, anything that makes life difficult for NC State at the end of the day is good :), I do feel sorry for the kid.

I feel sorry for the kid, but I don't feel a thing for their fans.

I think the transfer and OAD rules will change eventually.

With today's news, I am especially happy for Joel Berry, who had to deal with this investigation for his entire UNC career to this point..........

Go Heels!
For Joel, for Marcus, Brice, Isaiah, Nate, Justin, Theo, Joel J... they endured the worst of times, with opposing fans yelling taunts and watching recruit after recruit choose other schools.

To that end we should also thank Brandon, Kenny, Luke, Seventh, Shea et al.... they chose to be Heels amid heavy clouds of uncertainty.

And to the guys who got scared off... ooops.

A lot of the premi info was well not real
Premi because it wasn't even close as another poster said above.

Well, well, well.....where have all the haters gone?

I don't see our usual pukie and Kentuck trolls on this thread! This is the first time in my life that I am tempted to go on another team's site and gloat just a bit! I don't because it isn't the Tar Heel Way!

What will Big Baby Kane and John Goodman's long lost, and far less talented little brother do now!

I was strangely calm last night (except for watching Panthers receivers drop every ball they touched) and it was due to the fact that I KNOW Roy would not lie to a recruit and he told Little we would be fine! This is one of the reasons it is so good to be a Tar Heel; we can be certain of the ethical quality of our coaches...can you say that evil blues?

Heel yeah!!! You gotta love our Seniors. So happy for them to not have to be questioned anymore about that garbage. These kids were being questioned about stuff that they had zero involvement in and what did they do, they didn't give into the stupidity they just kept doing their thing and kept exhbiting the Carolina Way all the way to Winning a Natty and carving out this Carolina Legacy. It's a "dagdum" Great Day To Be A Tarheel!! Let's get the Late Night festivities going.
There isn't a better place to be tonight than celebrating at the Smith Center with our National Champion Tar Heels!! Ohhhh, I cannot wait to see that banner go up and Ol'e Roy Jump Around!!!!
Let's Get this season started and win another one!!!!
ARE YOU READY????

With today's news, I am especially happy for Joel Berry, who had to deal with this investigation for his entire UNC career to this point. He's the heart and soul of this team, a champion and a true winner. Definitely one of my all-time favorite players to wear the jersey. So glad he decided to come back for his senior year.

Go Heels!

I believe everybody would concur MWHEELS.

Mike, you know full well what was posted over the last week.

I get you need to try and sell premi subs, but I am not lying so why act like I am.
You going by this past week, im going on MONTHS! And this past week it was not spelled out.

AJ make certain predictions about the NCAA sanctions and he was dead on accurate. Sure make me sleep a lot better last week when many were panicking.

I am indeed only going by this past week that is true.

I did consider this past week was a hedge. Say they are throwing the book and if they do you are right and if they don't say you just wanted worst case scenario in mind to make the truth that much sweeter of a surprise.

But, ultimately the doom and gloom from there made me expect to be hammered (and win later in court).

I'll be that guy and say that premi literally said that the book was gonna be thrown at us and that we would still in theory have an athletic department to be run.

Of course, you only read part of what I wrote. My comment about the athletic department was a joke mocking all of the end-of-the-world stuff that was being said. The throw-the-book post you clearly didn't read all of, either. I said that half the building in Indy wanted to burn UNC to the ground when the other half did not want to. Most of the people in the COI wanted to, and the plan now 10 days ago was to throw the book at UNC but only the things it could be punished for. (Remember the jaywalking example?)

I qualified the statement that unless the wiser heads prevailed the NCAA would find as many jaywalkings as it could and punish UNC has hard as it can. That is what it st out to do. I also said the NCAA knew it would later lose big in court, and in the end it chose to avoid that path.

I have been very consistent about this case for more than three years. I said all along nothing would happen and noting happened.

Are you okay with one post of yours being posted here and you explaining it for me because I do not in any way grab from it what you have said now.

If it isn't okay then I digress and will drop it out of respect for you and just be happy with the result.

Either way. Thanks for the good work you do accomplish regardless.

I'd have to hunt for something. I have no problem with someone posting one.

Wow, went by crackride, if I read correctly page count was at 152 and got locked.
But they emphasize we are "cheaters" none the less. I think that qualifies them for the John Goodman lack of journalistic Integrity award and the bass trophy outright.
You mean Jeff Goodman. John Goodman is a strong actor.

I have had plenty if deep inside information all along, not all of which I've been able to report. Much of the information I have provided hasn't been reported anywhere else, such as why certain things are happening, including the NCAA's disposition on what is going on. I gave an explanation last week of what was coming without saying what is coming because I simply cannot do that. I still cannot.

What I can say is that the NCAA isn't going to theoretically shut down UNC athletics, but it has handed the school the harshest possible punishment it can under its bylaws and likely stepped beyond it in some respects. I have also said the NCAA knows overstepping with its punishment would end up with an ugly loss in court and factions of the office in Indy aren't concerned about that, they want to win the moment, which will be tomorrow.

The thinking by some in Indy is by winning tomorrow they get to look strong and show the national media, which would surely rip them if they followed the book, that they aren't feckless. And, in the end UNC would win in court and both sides would get what they ultimately wanted.

Just tell me how exactly that was supposed to be taken?

Especially the bold, though the italics refers to an earlier post where you said it seems the NCAA is going to throw the book at us after all.

Which was this post...

The specifics I do know is that it was coming by next week, which means today through next week. I also know that the the most severe punishment possible for each infraction will be levied, which was explained when I was told the NCAA is going to "throw the book at them." I asked if that means banners, suspensions, vacated wins, etc, and was told in a round-about way no, but it would be excessive (my word). My source agrees this is an academic issue, agrees the NCAA has little ground to stand on here, agrees the NCAA is acting outside of its jurisdiction and that the NCAA knows it will lose in court. But, it wants to win the moment. It wants to show it's not feckless, and two things working against UNC this week are the national media spending the last few years telling the NCAA it has to whack UNC (even though none of them understand the actual facts of the case or NCAA bylaws) and last week's FBI revelation. The NCAA looked like a joke last week and received a ton of criticism. Well, UNC is on the chopping block and the NCAA wants to save some face, so it will let UNC have it to try to achieve that.

So, I am expecting harsher punishment than is justified, but I still maintain UNC will come out fine in the long run. It's just a shame that in Oct. 2017 we are still thinking about the long term.

Okay. Sorry I posted two.

Just explain those two and how it wasn't doom and gloom. I feel you hedged looking back. But, again, either way I appreciate the work you do. I will drop it regardless after your explanation.

I'm covering Late Night With Roy. Can't spend time on this.

If you choose to believe that I am fine with it. But having perspective of following my coverage for three years would be beneficial. I maintained all along that UNC would be fine long term. The NCAA choosing in the last minute to note overstep its boundary worked out well for everyone, and yes, UNC is fine long ter,. as I have said for three years.

Now, I need to cover this. Send me a DM if you want to discuss this further, otherwise i may miss posts in this or another thread.

Read elsewhere that NCAA was "Wainsteined" and that document or specifically the attachments helped UNC at hearing in August and lead to the undoing of Skankey's crap.

Question to those in the know.....
What about the violations that we're self reported?

It's okay. Let's just drop it. It doesn't need to be explained.
Thank you for bring like some of our posters and insisting that "someone has to be wrong". We all want the same freakin' thing.

Why do some people take so much pride in proving others wrong? If you disagree, fine. But we're not keeping points here.

? I said let's drop it. LNWR is on and we are hanging a banner. Who cares.

Just was a bit miffed I was called a troll earlier on by seeing doom and gloom from other tar heel posters when I felt I had good reason for it. It's not a big deal though.
