North Carolina Contacts the Top Point Guard in the Transfer Portal

Georgia Tech's Naithan George is also in the portal. Not as highly rated but he looked pretty good when we played them.

UNLV's Dedan Thomas is another who might be worth a look.

One concern is that both Dent and Thomas hail from the Mountain West conference, which is even worse than the ACC.

At a glance, Dent may need less development - so until Team Hubert proves they can develop players, he might be our best bet.

WW, there isn't a team in the country that Dent would not be the starting PG for and we had zero shot at him had Cadeau not bolted.

We need to be seeing who is in the portal after the tournament is over there maybe be a better one after the season is complete.

Don't want to stick all our eggs in one basket till we know who all is available

I am a UNM fan and have watched every game they played this year. Dent is a really good player but is extremely lazy on D. He was protected this year by Tru Washington on more than 1 occasion. I do NOT think he is worth pursuing simply because of his D. I got tired of his whining to officials as well. If you look at this game, he really relied on getting fouls called and getting to the FT line. Go after someone else who is not going to be a liability on D....besides hearing he is headed to UCLA. If so, UNC dodged a bullet in my opinion.

I can’t help but think that recruits sense disarray in Chapel Hill. Couple that with Hubert’s seat getting very warm and I’m not optimistic about how this offseason will unfold. Unless we crush the portal, next year is going to be even worse than this year. I’m going to forget about basketball and let whatever happens, happen. I’m not emotionally enough invested in sports anymore to fret over it.

So then, this board may be a large part of the problem at present ( imo). Relax and enjoy yourself...

With Dent off the board, who's our next target? Do we have one?

Who's our PG if we strike out in the Portal?

Call me crazy (go ahead, I don't care) but I would give Drake a shot at that spot. I like the way he moves, his handle is OK, and he seems to see the court well . . . for a freshman.

I'm not saying he's the next Magic Johnson . . . but he could be the next Magic Johnson. OK, OK, maybe more like Leaky - but with a stronger motor and well ahead of Leaky as a frosh.

Oh, and by the way, we should pay whatever it takes to keep Drake. He's going to be a star.

Keep Drake yes. The rest, you're crazy 🤣! (in good fun of course).

Seriously though, think of what you're proposing. We cannot get a point guard at point guard U. We had a very good one and couldn't keep him.

It appears there is a widening gap in the haves and have-nots of college basketball. For whatever reason, we appear to be on the wrong side of that gap, despite our history, tradition and status as a blue blood. It is maddening.
