Top-25 recruit Sebastian Wilkins has committed to Duke and will reclassify into the 2025 class. Why can't the powers that be, see that UNC is becoming a mid-major program. Sad times at UNC.
That is a gross overstatement and oversimplification.
Is it? Is it NIL? Cadeau and Jackson didn't want to play for him. Powell (his cousin) said he was misused. Recruits (Wilson aside) should be racing to accept a UNC offer. This roster isn't good on paper. That Tar Heel blue is still the most beautiful color on the spectrum. Maybe Davis is too nice for the ugliness of college basketball recruiting.
As I have tried to explain, it's not Hubert per se (and yeah, maybe he is too nice), it is the result of the fatal direction he took our scheme last season and misuse of that roster, thus running off a PG everyone wanted to play with... and thus, the ugly ripple that has predictably followed.

I agree that he doesn’t directly come out and say he was misused…nobody getting interviewed at the draft combine is gonna make a statement like that! However, it’s still looks bad for UNC..and he probably wasn’t super happy playing the 4 for the majority of the season! Even though he doesn’t say it, he was very misused! Cadeau not being able to showcase his bag is a big reason he left! At least his family said so. It’s just a bad overall look and a reason why we have struggled to land a high impact player in the portal IMO! According to some on here we were the higher bidder for a few pg’s and couldn’t land them! Hopefully Hubert can figure it out this year and we click and don’t have to play people out of position! I actually like the roster but I feel we need an alpha that can get a bucket when we need it! Hopefully someone can step up and be that guy, but I’m not so sure of it!
Lol....You have to be able to "read" between the lines, not really sure what else you got from that.... I do think Flagg will grow, but don't care about him.... Problem is, outside of the year UNC caught absolute fire in the tournament (2022), not 1 player has really grown at UNC since Hubert took over. Maybe Trimble? Love came back, got worse, RJ came back, got worse. The last 2 of the last three 5 stars we signed transfered, that should tell you something. You have to be able to take the Tar Heel goggles off to see sometimes.
It's a net result of eschewing the system --- nothing more, nothing less.
Players ain't gonna develop if they're hamstrung.

And I 100% disagree that EC was mishandled.
Just like you peeps insist on seeing everything in a negative light and ignoring all things positive, know that there is nothing that can come from your largely petty mouths that can convince me to to turn on my team! To me supporting the Tar Heels which includes doing my.part to.try to attract recruits, means not adding to the negative recruiting already spouted by supposed.opponents!

Chill out man! I’m sorry a lot of us don’t live in a fantasy world where it’s rainbows and butterflies all the time like you..some people are realist and see things for what they are! There was nothing false with what I posted and I even mentioned that I like a lot of the pick ups but we lack star power! Hubert has been highly inconsistent and that shouldn’t be the standard at UNC! He better pull a 180 or this will be his last year! I hope he succeeds, I think he is a great dude! He just doesn’t seem like a good coach!

Half of these clowns were fake-smiling when HD made it to the championship game! Why? Because their hating-ass didn’t and still don’t want him to be successful! Yeah, winning that championship would’ve been nice…but because they disagreed with his hiring from the jump their hating-ass would’ve still been STANK simply because it would’ve been won under Coach Hubert Davis!
Sure HD hasn’t been perfect, and in my opinion there was no excuse for not getting a center last year. But at least he hasn’t made foolish unrepairable blunders like the boys down the street…Y’all must’ve forgot!

Wow. I for one had no feeling one way or another about the hire. I didnt know anything about him as a coach. The first year I expected the team have "growing pains", which they did until the very end of the regular season. Then the title run came and I thought Hubert was the guy (even blowing a 16 pt lead in title game).
The three years that followed have given me serious doubt that Hubert is the man. The only thing thats been consistent is inconsistency. Some of the ugliest basketball ive ever seen from a carolina team. This past season most of the kids looked like they quit because they stopped believing in what their coach(es) were telling them to do. It was a bad look and recruits, agents and the media took notice. You can scream all day that Hubert is doing a great job but he just hasn't. Duke is sending kids to the NBA, unc is sending kids to the transfer portal.
If all the info ive heard is true and that Lebo is who is killing this system then I expect Hubert and Tanner to override him or ask him to leave. Either way its time to put up or shut up. If this is another down year Hubert and staff (except Marcus Paige) gotta go.
Jon is set up for sure fire success… right now he’s on pace to have the best win percentage in ncaa history.

FTR: I love both rainbows and butterflies and I also can be objective! (I also like puppies and world peace) What I find so objectionable is ignoring all things positive and only harping on the negative. The facts are that Hubs has had two teams out of his 4 that have done well. He has had 2 that underachieved. The fact is that multiple peeps developed under his watch AND a few seemed to regress. The fact is that there has never been a OAD recruit that showed his entire arsenal in college AND everyone of them had to grow at the next level! The fact is we all saw our coaching staff grow into the job AND they still have work to do! BUT right now, the overwhelming fact is that our staff did a masterful job in HS recruiting and mining the portal. Just like every team at every level in bball, our team lost a few they wanted to keep and at least one was a surprise! BUT-as a Family member I choose to look at the positive side of each junction AND assume the staff will address the shortcomings. Others seem to not even see the positive and assume it will only get worse. I agree that Hubs is on a pretty hot seat and has to achieve this next season BUT I see the tools to get it done AND it makes me happier to anticipate UNC being successful! UNC will have to leave me since I will never leave them! (As long as the Carolina Way is our mantra)

Stating valid concerns about Hubert’s coaching is not “helping the enemy”! You literally sound like Hubert’s mother. With all the talent he has at his disposal, there is no excuse for the Heels not being at least a 5 seed and finishing third or better in the ACC. A sweet 16 berth is a reasonable expectation as well. 95% of the coaches in the country would trade their team for ours.

What games counted against Scheyer? Hubert is 2-5 against Scheyer, his only big wins vs dook were against K.

I actually really do like the current team that he’s assembled. Keeping 5th year VAL would’ve been awesome but the unfortunately the fella had no choice but to follow the bag as it will prob be the last bag he’ll ever get his hands on. Go Ven! Hopefully I’m wrong but I don’t see JB feeling in as a backup 5. The portal is not an option at this point but there are plenty of bigs available overseas.
Dude, what are you talking about? That was our best, most consistent season since ‘18-19 and one at Cameron was to win the ACC Regular Season.
coach k and assist coach schemer were both coaching in the building so HD beat both of them bches!
