I know preseason rankings don't mean much. All the college basketball magazines have them in top 5. They bring two average players off a team that was garbage last year that couldn't get out of the first weekend of the tournament. Yeah they bring in top two recruiting class so did they last year how did that turn out for them? Fox and monk are not going to be as good as Ullis and Murray was last year. Bam game still needs some work he likes too overpower everybody worked in high school. I like are matchup with them we will add to are dominance over Kensucky in this series.

If we went by paper, then Duke and UK should both go undefeated somehow. However, we all know that Freshman do not always pan out as well as they look on paper.
One things for sure they will win a lot of games in that mid major conference they play in.
They do this for Ky every year now days and some years I can see it but not this season. They have a solid recruiting class coming in, I do think it is way over hyped for what it is. Fox & monk wil be an interesting back court but I do agree, it not to the level Ulis and Murry were, Briscoe helps it but the kid couldn't shoot last season has that changed some how?
Bam is a high motor defender and plays very physical but his offense is limited to stick backs and dunks, he will rebound and he will defend hard but don't look for him to be a big time scorer. Gabriel may be the gem, but is the really good or great? Monk is a volume shooter, he can get hot but does not like to pass on many shots. Fox has good size and physicallity but needs to work on his shooting. SJK, personally, I was not real high on him when we were recruiting him, he is more a finesse glider than tuff interior guy. This is a team that should win the weak SEC but don't be shocked if they struggle. I would rank them maybe in the high teens, top 5 is IMO very questionable.
Me and you agree on uk. They better put those 40 and 0 shirts away. Like always will rack up lots of wins in the sec. Love are matchup with them, going to add to are head to head with them.

The tricky part about these early polls is not so much seeing that UK is relying too much on freshmen to be ranked that high - of whatever the flaw is for whichever team - but who you would move up ahead of them.
The earlier we play UK, the better I like it. Our experience should give us the edge over their green talent.
I notice the game is being played in Las Vegas. Kind of annoying because it should be our turn for the home court advantage.
This Uk/unc game is part of the cbs sports classic...if you guys renew w/ uk then yall should get the next game at home considering they had the last one at home

You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Unlike many, I believe we're going to miss our seniors much more than most. Brice was our go to guy and Marcus was the heart beat of our team until Joel took over last year. I think we have question marks about Kennedy, Isaiah, and the SG spot that need to be answered positively in order for us to be a top 5 team. Again, just my two cents worth. We'll revisit this as the season unwinds.
Where are you seeing this recruiting class ranked in the top 10? I've checked all the usual places and didn't see anyone that had UNC in the top 10 for 2016 recruiting class.
It is kinda back to business as usual from the ACC, for sure 3 top 10 teams IMO in UNC, duke, and UVa. Teams like Miami, FSU, Lville could for sure find time in the top 10 as well. ND and maybe Syracuse IMO are good bets for top 25, even the wuffies could make some noise if they get everyone eligible.
For me, it really does not matter where our class is ranked, the only question to me is how does that class fill the need we have. Clearly the 2016 class had to fill a couple big needs, specifically out side shooters and front court bigs. I feel like we did a great job addressing the need for jump shooting in our back court, would have preferred we got 1 more big man to go with Tony so we could have spread out the classes a lil more. Hate it when you get a 3 big man class because they tend to come in together which is fine but they all leave together which ain't. I like classes of 2 big men, a 3rd being a guy not expected to be with us the full 4yrs, like say we add PJ to Huffman and Stokes. Much easier to replace a 2 big man class than a 3 and it lets you spread out your experienced players so that you don't have to rely on 3 freshman bigs to often.
What really hurt was not getting anyone other than Luke as a big man in 2015.
Agreed,Kennedy is gonna have to step up big time,Brice was the rock of this team period.Gonna miss both him and Marcus no doubt,but if the returning guys go the extra length they can return to the Final 4.....I think they will.
The experts at pack pride seem to think that state will be making the final 4 this year.

Well considering the wuffie players likely are pals with some of our guys, I am sure some of our players would not mind sliding them tickets to enjoy the final 4...

One thing I'll say is that it's impossible to rank them since they always start players who have never played a minute of CBB. Who knows which are going to be good and which aren't. They aren't all Anthony Davis just as they aren't all Skal.

Omar is the game changer I agree. The others just don't scare me that much. D. Smith is an explosive athlete that has to come back from leg injuries.
