Obamacare ruled unconstitutional by US federal judge...

That penalty for not having it, I think.
The penalty is gone. Trump admin removed it. The judge is stating the penalty (mandate) is so integral to ACA, that it can’t exist without it.

This is purely a political game. I’m not mad. Elections have consequences. But Republicans have done their best to wreck ACA. I see SCOTUS overturning his ruling.

Welp, you can tell I don't use it, lol.

So, that made it constitutional in the first place?
The only thing you could argue that was unconstitutional was the mandate and penalty for not having it. But that’s been gone. There’s nothing unconstitutional about it now. This was a totally politically motivated move here. No way SCOTUS lets it stand if it gets that far.

Hardly anyone takes it. I had it and it was almost impossible to find a GP, and forget about it if I needed a specialist. I had to drive one or two towns over to find anyone who would accept the insurance. I might as well had Medicaid, except that I had to pay for the ACA policy.

I think the mandate is still there. The penalty is gone.

It doesn't really matter. The ACA will eventually fold due to the declining risk pool. It was doomed from the start. It was terrible legislation that gives power to the insurance companies.

Next up will be single payer.
I'm a little bitter because the ACA almost killed me this summer. I had insurance before it became law. I lost that insurance and then was priced out of the ACA by the ridiculous price spikes.

How did you lose insurance under ACA?

I disagree, but it doesn't matter anyway. The law is going to die regardless.

My experience has been the exact opposite. Maybe Florida sucks.

BTW, single payer isn't coming, because even the Dems don't want it. California Democrats hired a former big insurance lobbyist to kill the single payer plan in California.

If the Democrats have the numbers in the House, this could mean trouble for those who don't want it to go in a more socialized direction.

Yeah. Dems are going to push it further. And Trump wants as many people covered as possible. He wants to keep no prescription-existing conditions. This won’t go as planned

They didn't want it in California. What makes you think they want it in other places? The Dems are too beholden to the insurance companies to ever implement something like a single-payer system. We should have gone with Rand Paul's idea, although the insurance companies didn't like that one either.

You're kidding! A lobbyist and a corporation are influencing government policy??? Get right outta town. I'm totally shocked to find that "The Greatest Country In The History of the World" is a big, bought-off plutocracy where the citizens get shit-on! No way! I mean, what about all the songs and the flag???

Because the price went up to $700 a month in 2017. My mother had the same policy and hers went up to almost $1200 a month this year. Luckily she went on Medicare this year.
You think prices weren’t going up without ACA? Lol

Gavin Newsome is exploring Medicare for everyone in California. How are you always so wrong on this stuff?

What makes you think the Dems will push it, and even if they did, how do they get it through the Senate?
Because Trump wants it. There has to be something. You can’t undo ACA and not offer something. A lot of people use it. They like no pre-existing conditions. Republicans don’t want to be responsible for crashing HC

I'm not talking about California. I'm talking about Washington. Ocasio-Cortez is from New York.

You know what you do? You make it easier for people to form their own groups. It's a lot easier to negotiate with insurance companies when you're 5,000 people than it is when it's just you.

Lol, that’s the crux of ACA bruh

So, it couldn't pass in the most liberal state in the US, but it's going to pass in DC? Good luck with that.
I don't know the conditions, the context, or the circumstances of what California was trying to do. I, personally, don't see California as "most liberal." California has a lot of different demographics. Bakersfield is basically Texas. Now, obviously the large metropolis areas are liberal, but that is the case everywhere.

That doesn't mean that the US House of Representatives will mimic California.

I wish it were. I wouldn't have so much medical debt right now.

Not from a negotiation stand point it isn't. The price is what it is. There is no room for negotiation with the insurance companies.

As more people enrolled in the exchanges, pricing was supposed to come down. Republicans defunded the exchanges and insurance companies colluded to keep prices up.
