OFFICIAL UNC VS. Bucknell THREAD

If Luke keeps stroking it from 3 then he will be a nightmare matchup for big guys. He should be able to open up a lot of space in the paint by drawing his man out to the arc.

Luke is a nightmare matchup for the opposition but has limitations defending any big. Overall a huge plus for us.

Yeah, but we are beating them in most other stats, too. Or were, when I wrote that. More assists, more steals, more blocks, very similar percentages.
Leading steals 3-4 hardly counters dropping 16 percentage points in shooting. Look, I can't watch the game so I'm only going of game cast etc, but this seemed like a typical early 2nd half slump that we saw a bit of at the beginning of last season.... too many forced shots etc.

Not going to take away from our other bigs but with Maye playing the way he’s playing thus far this year and being able to spread the floor at the 4, Tony Bradley would have had a ton of space to work this year and play his way into the lottery.

Agree. However, Tony's decision gives the young bigs their opportunity early.... tonight is Sterling's turn!

Felton forgot to point to Berry for the assist on the breakaway. Unless I just missed it.

lol dude is going to get ripped in the film room tomorrow

Felton scores and then Williams scores and Pinson again at the line gets,2 more and Carolina holds on to top a veteran Bucknell 93-81

Congrats to Roy on win number 400 with the Heels. 200th victory at the greatest venue in sports.

Yeah... Zion is watching the game and between Manley and Maye he's figuring he'd get no game time if he joins the Heels next year!

Did they already put Jackson's jersey in the rafters? I thought I saw it up there when the camera was on them late in the game.

Also if we continue to get the type of production out of our 4 and 5 spots then we will be a very tough out once we get fully healthy (if ever) in the back court. Very pleased with our efforts on the boards with our freshman bigs. We do need to work on the defensive end guarding the post which I expected to be a tall task this early in the season.

To those who watched, who gets the game ball: Theo, Luuuke or Sterling?

Gotta say Theo. He came out exactly how we needed him to in the 2nd half and his play really led us. He was in attack mode, getting to the basket and drawing a whole lotta fouls. 9-10 from the charity stripe is awesome and add in 6 assists. Defensively, he was very active, applied great on ball pressure, drew offensive fouls and got after loose balls. He also didn't push the envelope, he took what the defense gave him and took advantage of it. I came away satisified with the way he played against Northern Iowa, but tonight I came away super happy with his performance. He stepped up tonight when we needed him and showed us all that Theo not only can he get his teammates involved and make them better, but he can also be that scoring threat when we need him to be.

Enjoyed watching Manley's game on the offensive end tonight. He has a really nice touch around the basket. Great activity on the boards as well.

Speaking of Bradley, Manley reminded me a lot of him tonight. Even the way they move around and their body language seems similar.

You guys are way overhyping and overreacting about Manley right now.

I will say Maye has looked very impressive offensively but defensively he is a liability still.

We will need to be stronger on the perimeter defense as our interior defense is likely going to get shredded a lot this year.

What’s up with Seventh Woods? Body language and play don’t look good this early. Not a good sign for his prospects of getting more time.

Overhyping and overreacting? Most folks didn't even think the kid would get on the floor unless it was mop up time. He has already exceeded most people expectations.

On Wednesday night the freshman center had 16 points and 13 rebounds in 17 minutes.

Tell you what, I'm guilty.and proud of it.

One of the freshman did that in the first game too. Can't quite remember who, but I believe it was Huffman.

Yes. Overhyping and overreacting. Correct.

He had a great stat line. In all actuality, all 3 bigs did in their limited minutes. Huffman had a point per minute. Brooks had 10 in 11 minutes. Manley had 16 in 17. It was relatively impressive all the way around for sure.

However, there is glaring problems which are noticable now, especially defensively though also offensively, and will become more and more noticable as ACC play is in swing.

The good news is that there is time until then and play can improve as they build confidence and learn more.

We will see how it plays out. As of now, I expect a major disappearance of production in ACC play based on what I have seen so far.
