OFFICIAL UNC VS. Northern Iowa THREAD

Kenny was all over the court last night. He shot the ball really well and played some great defense as well. This could be his breakout season assuming he stays healthy.

Kenny looked confident but didn't force it either. He played better than his stat line showed.

I think it's the best I've seen him play. His defense was very good, as usual. But he looked more confident in his outside shot and he looked to penetrate a bit more and find open teammates. Loved seeing him out there enjoying himself and feeling confident.

And I'd say the same thing about Seventh. I think they both hit the "college ball" wall and lost a little confidence. And both have not been completely healthy. If they can stay healthy and continue to gain confidence, they can be very valuable contributors. If Kenny plays like he did yesterday, he will remain in the starting lineup.

As for the bigs, I was pretty impressed. Sterling's conditioning is already improving and the announcer remarked on how much stronger Garrison already looks. And though pretty raw, I think the potential for the freshman bigs was apparent. Maye will not have to carry the load down low as many have speculated, at least 2 of the young bigs are going to play extensively.

Another thing that impressed me was how quickly we got the ball down court after a made basket. We are a very fast team and have several guys who can start the break. And we also have several guys who are able and willing distributors. Loved the fact that we only turned the ball over 7 times despite running at every opportunity. And two of Garrison's TO's were offensive fouls.

In short, I realize we were playing a decent, not great UNI team. But we played better than I thought we would.

GDTBATH!

I was pleasantly surprised by how the freshman bigs played last night. Brooks has a nice touch on offense and was active on the boards. The thing I really like about Manley is that he has a strong motor. He seems to really give max effort on the court, and that's something that can't be taught. A player either has it or doesn't. Huffman is raw, but does have some future potential.

But the best thing about these guys is that they won't be gone in 5 months. As fans, we can sit back and watch them develop their games, adding new skills and moves each season. These guys could eventually become the foundation for another championship run.

Amen. And I believe they will be just that.

Manley has a nice shooting touch. A legit 7-footer with lots of potential. That kid makes me smile.

I DVR’d the game and just finished watching. Happy with the team, but.....

What’s up with all the empty seats?! That looks horrible on television.

First game of the season after the National Championship. The Dean Dome should have been packed and jumping.

I know there have been numerous threads about this very topic, but something needs to be done. Put all the donors into luxury skyboxes with all you can eat and drink and put the students down front where they belong
