I think it's the best I've seen him play. His defense was very good, as usual. But he looked more confident in his outside shot and he looked to penetrate a bit more and find open teammates. Loved seeing him out there enjoying himself and feeling confident.
And I'd say the same thing about Seventh. I think they both hit the "college ball" wall and lost a little confidence. And both have not been completely healthy. If they can stay healthy and continue to gain confidence, they can be very valuable contributors. If Kenny plays like he did yesterday, he will remain in the starting lineup.
As for the bigs, I was pretty impressed. Sterling's conditioning is already improving and the announcer remarked on how much stronger Garrison already looks. And though pretty raw, I think the potential for the freshman bigs was apparent. Maye will not have to carry the load down low as many have speculated, at least 2 of the young bigs are going to play extensively.
Another thing that impressed me was how quickly we got the ball down court after a made basket. We are a very fast team and have several guys who can start the break. And we also have several guys who are able and willing distributors. Loved the fact that we only turned the ball over 7 times despite running at every opportunity. And two of Garrison's TO's were offensive fouls.
In short, I realize we were playing a decent, not great UNI team. But we played better than I thought we would.
GDTBATH!
