1AM and still awake - guess I'm stoked about the game! I feel confident about this first game. Yes I'm nervous but I'm confident at the same time. We know the boys are perfectly capable of winning this game. Just hope the team comes out sharp, focused, and is able to handle the weight of the pressure. Smart basketball is key. Smart, crisp passes. Smart shots. No wasted possessions. Tighten down on the D. Rebound the ball. Now more than ever it's important to be on our best game. If we can come out even remotely close to how we did against Indiana - hit them early - I like our chances.

Come on, Heels! Y'all got this.

Let's bring the intensity and hit some shots!

Hoping to see some good production in the high - low post.

Go Heels!

Close game through most of the 1st half ... depth and size win out as the Cuse gets tired of trying to keep up and the Heels win going away.

UNC 79
Cuse 66

This zone is actually scaring me. Just keep doing what we have been doing and wear teams out down low.

Brice has got to come to play.

Brice is pivotal in this game. If he's knocking down the ft line jumper, we'll be in good shape.

84-70 UNC Paige and Berry won't shoot the 3 a sub 25% rate in this game like they did in the first two.

Hicks and Brice dominate inside. Brice goes for 20-10-5 ast

They very well may. This court SUCKS for shooters. But it won't matter if we play our game and get it into the high post on every possession.

MY nerves are on edge, not sure if it is because I am worried that Syracuse may beat us or is it just that I want this game so badly, I suspect the later.

There has been a lot of talk about how hard it is to jump shoot in that arena and it is but this I do know, if Syracuse backs way off either Joel or Marcus so they can catch and get squared up in rythem they will nail those jumpers. If Brice moves in to the middle of that zone as he has for the last 2 games they will double down IMO from the top or wing and that will leave us with a shooter wide open for a clear unrushed look.

They are going to try to make it hard for us to get the pass in to Brice in the middle of that zone, I do not think they have the guards to do that, I think that takes quicker guards than they have. Syracuse does not have a Yogi or a Kris Dunn and they do not have that back line shot blocking guy that erases a lot of their mistakes.

But our key, as it has been since the season ended is going to be on the defensive end, coming out with that big time ball hawking intensity, playing those passing lanes, staying in front and pushing their offensive attack to far out front to allow them to get higher % shots. When they miss own the back boards and especially guards and wings, be quicker to the long rebounds, block out, don't give the second chance shots. Our offense keys off our defense, our defense allows us to get out and run in the open court and Syracuse can not run with us, they are not deep enough to run with us. They get tired, they start to reach, we march to the foul line and their starters march to the bench with foul trouble.

Definitely have to speed the ball up court and try to get the ball to the bigs, at very least for a touch, really early in the shot clock before they can really set up the zone. The Zags had success with that!

Run, Run, Run. If that doesn't work Run faster. Wear them out and get down before the zone sets up. They are really good at getting the zone set up quickly. We need to be quicker.

and don't let cooney get comfortable - to me he is the X factor for Syracuse
