Olympics sports?

I think we can all agree the gals in their beach volleyball bikinis rule.
Gold for properly filling their bikini bottoms goes to Latvia.

I got bored with beach volleyball after a while, but would always stop fast forwarding if the Latvians were playing.

I may be old, but I'm not dead.

Root for or against whomever you feel. If it is as a protest against US teams/team because you dislike some of the American's actions or stances, and you would like to stop that aspect, well, it seems that the two divergent sides at least agree in protesting or condemning what they see as harmful even if it is the USA who is doing it.
I probably need another cup of coffee to be sure what you said, but I think I agree.

It's impossible to watch without DVR.

I also wonder how NBC makes money if nearly everyone is skipping commercials.

I guess maybe a better question is why do businesses pay big bucks to NBC to advertise when they have to know almost nobody actually sees their commercials?

Nike and some others get product placements (the Nike swoosh on uniforms, for example; I can't think of any others). But how much is that worth to NBC?
The men's basketball final was at a decent US time, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Their whole run, after a good deal of doubt thrown at them was fun, but many games during their run were in the wee hours.

Sporting events are NOT the place to air your personal views.
It depends on the views.

The protests - if it's even reasonable to call them that - have all been for good cause, imo. And even if you disagree, they have all been peaceful and respectfully done.

But I can imagine protests I wouldn't agree with. Suppose, for example, these were white guys who, instead of a glove, were wearing a KKK hoodie? Or instead of a raised fist were giving a Nazi salute? Would I still defend their action?

What a complete disaster these Olympics were. NBC is freaking out about it too and having to give free air time away to businesses that bought commercials during the games.

The bottom line is “get woke, get broke”. No one likes all that bullshit being a part of the games. It’s not the time and place. These virtue signaling companies like NBC will come around when it starts costing them.

What’s a commercial?

I watched maybe 45 minutes total. I will admit that some the stuff tangential to the actual sports going in pushed me away but NBC did a crappy job of getting me interested. I am sure the time difference and covid restrictions handcuffed them but noting really compelling to me.

I usually enjoy the women's soccer but they turned me off after the first game, not just because the kneeling but they just put an awful product on the field.

Wanted to see Simone Biles because she is just so dominant when she is on but then I got annoyed by all the publicity about her stepping away. Whether I think it is courageous or not every story on her not competing took away from the rest of the team who stepped up. Talk about Biles after the others are done.

Rock climbing, speed walking and breakdancing coming? No thank you. I did find it funny how so many commentators discussed athletes of today with past competitors in terms of patriotism. Of course they lost credibility to me when they showed pics of MJ and Barkley and 92 team draping the flags over their shoulders describing it as some patriotic act when they just did not want photos of themselves wearing the Reebok gear.

I used to enjoy the Olympics. But not anymore. I bet I didn't watch 10 minutes total the whole two weeks. Too many "woke" types getting all the press for my liking, as the left (which includes NBC) feels the need to constantly apologize for the greatest country ever seen on this earth. Hopefully, all of these athletes defected and went home with members of a country where that perfect socialist state they want so bad exists. Have never cheered against an American in the Olympics. But must say that I found it more than humorous that the girls soccer team took it in the teeth. And then some of the sports I saw when flipping by. I guess any foolishness can now be labeled an Olympic sport. I fully expect corhhole to be a leading sport in upcoming Olympics.
